I'm most likely going to Denver in April. Should be a fun time.
I seriously didn't understand before now that all that shit you guys got was free. Shit I totally would have gone this weekend if I knew I could have gotten all them seeds free. I thought everyone was going to buy shit.

I got 20 seeds fro free. And some free pot for trade (thanks mo). I spent $200 on seeds too. I bought all tga gear. a 10 pack of 9 lb. hammer $90, a 10 pack of plushberry $70 (out of 5 packs) , a 5 pack of quantum kush $40I'm most likely going to Denver in April. Should be a fun time.

Things that make people question the integrity of cup contests:
3rd: Blackwater – Terrapin Terpene Collective
Really? Blackwater? I have a very difficult time believing the other entries are so bad that blackwater could have snuck in as a finalist. Makes me think it's more about the popularity in the local scene of the guy who bred it.
There is no plausible way someone could hit a titanium coil gotvaped pen then hit a cloud and a gpen and come to the conclusion that cloud and gpen are better options. That is a flat out fraud.

Ok, sure. I could see that as a reason why some products that are around the same quality could be a coinflip. But that does not explain the examples I posted. There is no way someone could think blackwater is an elite strain.
As for the pens, there are only a few metrics you can really judge them on. Size of the hit, and the ability to pull through terpenes. I can not think of another variable. Those are clearly and easily the two most important factors in hitting a pen. In both of those categories the cloud fails badly in comparison to many other pens out there.
What do black water, cloud pens, and gpens have in common? They are some of the best marketed products in the industry, but that's it. It's not reasonable to think that people tried these products and the majority of them came to the consensus that they are the best available.

It's a shame you think that of the Blackwater OG we entered. Why couldn't it be that this Blackwater OG was good enough to break into the top three? Our only affiliation with Swerve and The Cali Connection is really from our grower who bought a 10-pack of Blackwater OG seeds a few years back and, of the three he cracked (which all ended up being female BTW), one ended up being this nice purple phenotype of the plant that he chose to move forward with. Eventually we just entered it into the LA cup representing Terrapin Nation (one of us had to talk The Grower into entering it in the first place!)
Yea it takes good genetics to start, but it also takes a good grower to bring out the best qualities of a plant and that was what he was able to do here. First time entry into the cup for us and our grower so we couldn't be more surprised or humbled by this.
And yea, some of us used to think this was rigged and all politics; then this happened to us. We're happy, the grower is stoked, and everyone had a great time at the cup. That's really all that matters to us.
I can't speak for the best product category however as I agree that cloud and g-pens are both overpriced and unreliable.
Hopefully you get the chance to toke on some of the Blackwater I've been smoking for three years, I love it. I hope you at least get the chance to see why.
