I'm not sure what technique you used but Uncle Ben has this shit down pat. I'm planning on taking some pix of my kushes, one of my SLH and maybe my indoor grow later today. Be sure to check out the 4 cola monsters. Should have those pix in an hour or so.
Yea, again, still not sure you get that much more bud when you top, imo.

I know a lotta top growers who don't top, and some who actually think it's a detriment to the plant to top.

If you enjoy doing it, and psychologically think you get more bud because of it, cool deal, keep on rockin it. :hump:

topping is good. lst'ing is good. ever tried them together? while keeping the plant tied down through flowering... "do you feel me knocking?" well let me in:hump:

I have.

I'll probably do both next year, as I'll be able to grow bigger plants, instead of using these buckets, which I don't feel get great results from topping or LSTing.

Well I picked up some Grandma's Unsulphured Molasses:

grandma's unsuphered molasses.jpg

I've seen some really great results from some of my buddies back home (and my buddies here on RIU!) using this, so I thought I'd give it a try too.

1 Tablespoons/gallon...I have a feeling I'm gonna go through a lot. :hump:

I'm gonna stop the SuperThrive and Grow Big feedings.

With the addition of the molasses, and the regular use of Tiger Bloom/Big Bloom, hopefully the plants will notice the drop in nitrogen, and kick start into flowering a little bit.

They're taking their sweet time to show flowers!

I have two here in NC that have showed flowers. I think the high heat may have slowed the process done a little. But they should start popping like popcorn pretty dang soon. Props to u from the great state above ya...

I think you're right AB. The heat is really tough on the plants, and this is one of the most brutal summers I can remember.

I've found 5 males, and I have 3-4 females, but the other 8-9 plants were a mystery as of Monday.

I'm going out today to do a watering with molasses, and hopefully I'll be able to make some clearer distinctions as to what is what.

I'm also going to start spraying Gibberellic Acid tomorrow on two select plants, in an effort to start producing male stamen on my female plants, to eventually produce female seeds.

16 plants remain, and I've confirmed that 7 of them are female. I had to remove a male today, and I suspect at least 4 others as male, but we'll have to wait on that.

Only 2 females so far identified from the G13/Haze. They're taking their sweet time developing. The temps are supposed to drop from the high 90s from the last 2 weeks, to the low 90s, high 80s starting this weekend.

Hopefully the temp drop will have some positive effect on the plants flowering.

I fed the plants 2 1/2 teaspoons/gallon of molasses. I think they're gonna enjoy it:

The plants look good overall, despite their lack of flowering. I'm hoping that by just feeding them Tiger Bloom/Big Bloom on Mondays, and Molasses on the other days, they'll get the signal that nitrogen levels are low, and step into flowering more aggressively.

I probably won't be showing too many more individual pics until flowering begins.
Here's a 4 minute video wrap-up of how things are looking:

Hellz ya dude looking good!!
Thanks BSK. Just got back from another watering; just pure water this time. Monday I'll give them Fox Farm nutes, and next Wednesday molasses.

Females look good, although it looks like I might have 3 or 4 more males, still not sure. Hopefully in another week or so, I'll be able to finally distinguish what's male/female.

The count so far: 7 females, 3-4 suspected males, 5-6 unknown.

Well I just visited the garden, and things look promising. :weed:

I had to pull 3 males, so that's the bad news. The good news is the remaining 7 Sour Diesel are all female.

Of the remaining 6 G13/Haze, 3 are female.

The other 3 haven't shown enough to classify, although 1 looks like it could be female.

So the confirmed female total so far:

Sour Diesel: 7
G13/Haze: 3

G13/Haze unknown sex: 3
--------------------------

10 females
3 unknown

I fed them their Fox Farm nutes mixed with 15 gallons of water.
On Wednesday, I'll feed them molasses mixed with 15 gallons of water.

Glad to thin out the crop and find the females. Kinda disappointed in the amount of males in the G13/Haze, but those are the breaks.

I sprayed the Gibberellic Acid solution on the same female that I have been spraying in an effort to make male stamen on the female plant...so I can then take that female pollen and fertilize another female plant to get some feminized seeds.

I might have waited too long to start this process, but I'm holding out hope that I can still make it happen. If not, it's an experience, and I can try it again next year. There's a lot of conflicting info about when to start applying it.
I received over 5 grams of the Gibberellic Acid when I ordered it, and its shelf life is 2 years minimum.

Here's a 5-minute video of what remains. I'm pissed at how crappy my camera is, because you can't really see the female hairs too well, even though they're everywhere on these plants.

Yea, I hear you about the rain BSK. Hopefully this early in flowering, rain won't be too brutal on 'em.

I'm worried about the overall humidity in the next two months...just hope it can dry up here in another week.

It's funny how short the Sour Diesel are. I guess they are mostly indica, so that makes sense.

The G13/Haze is really strong in its Haze heritage, as they're 6 feet tall now, despite having the G13 indica parent.

Well I fed the plants molasses mixed in with their 15 gallons of water.

Still 7 Sour Diesel females, 3 G13/Haze females.

I for sure have 1 more male G13/Haze, and the other 2 are still up in the air as far as sex.

I also continued spraying Gibberellic Acid on the lower branches of my selected G13/Haze female in an effort to produce feminized seeds.

Gauging the underwhelming interest of this thread via the responses it's garnered, I'm probably wasting my time updating.

It would probably help if I had a better cam, and I was from Cali growing 14' high plants from indoor started clones.

Just thought there would be more interest in outdoor 5-gallon bucket grows of G13/Haze and Sour Diesel, as I know there are many who have dealt with similar poor native soil problems. :???:

lookin good m8 dont let thread inactivity get ya down there are 1000's if not more grows on this site cant look at all of em :P

keep up the good work yeah clip them males .. i woulda broke it off shears or not and stomped his ass into the dirt hah

Yeah, I realize its a big site with lots of grows.

Not sure if you've ever tried to break a thick and fibrous marijuana stem, but without a tool, its not easy.

Thanks for your post.
