okay so i just got my 400 watt mh/hps, i had 9 plants under a 4 foot flour lamp for a week and it stretched the shit out of them, they are about 3-4 inches before the first set out leaves, and also the temp is between 80-85, is that goin to be a problem?

Just get your new light as close as possible to your plants. Put your hand over the tops of the plants with the BACK of your hand facing the light. If the light doesn't burn the back of your hand, it should be OK for the plants. 80-85 degrees is where I prefer to keep my temps, so I say that's fine. The new light should stop them from stretching.

i had my HPS too far away from my sprouts, 1 grew to around 3-4 the other to around 4-5. what i did was add a little extra soil to help support the stem, has worked wonders on them so id suggest that.
