2 Mr.Ed 1 Jack Frost- Lightight Question

Im about 1 month 1/2 into my grow.

Plants are looking great. about 2 feet Each. Been stress Traning them in several ways. Topping, some tying down. And stem mutalation. Ive got big fat stalks and aboug 10 nice Solid Colas per Plant.

Now My question is concerning my light source.

Im currently using 2 sets of 4 Foot Fluros that are put together on an angle using a braket i made. Forming a type of pyramid.

Ive Also got about 6 Flurros aswell.


Im looking to experiement a bit with my vegging.

I have a 1000 Watt HPS ballast.

1- 250 Watt hps bulb
1- 400 Watt hps bulb

Had just the 250, but then was given the 400 (Bonus ^^)

Im curious if it would be wise Remove the 4ft flurros and replace it wth the 250watt hps bulb.

And then switch out for 400Watts when im budding. That enough of a lumen difference to give me my extra lumens i need for good budding? or am i better stcking wiht my flurros for vegging and 400watt for flowering.

so you have a 1000 watt ballast, and bulbs that do not match it?? dont put bulbs in a socket and ballast that dont match, bad news!!
how is your heat control? if it is good then run the 400, with the matching ballast if you have it, or get one, and all of your flouros also for side lighting. if you have no heat control then just run the flouros.

again dont use mismatching lighting parts, you dont need a burnt down house, or exploding bulbs or any other problems that could happen.

Hm, The Tag on the Ballast is Marked:

Min: 250 Max: 2000

So i assumed the bulbs were interchangable. Is that possible? dont want my house going poof now do we


As for heat, it is not an issue, Ive got my babies in there own 10x10 Room, With lots of room to grow and air to circulate. Running 3 120CFM exhaust fans.

Using the fluros as a sidemount instead of my reflectors. I like it.

But i heard When you go from Veggin to flowering you need to up your Lumen dosage to get better yields. If thats the case, maybe best thing would for me to run the 4ft fluros w.250 Watt HPS and the CFL's for Vegging, and 400HPS + assload of CFL for flowering. Is that logical? That would give me the lumen increase i need between veg and budding?
