" The budtender on duty was extremely helpful. I explained to her that I was there for research purposes on behalf of internet stoner nerds everywhere. Even she seemed blown away that $40 ounces existed.I was surprised to find out that the deal was for an outdoor Jack the Ripper strain which tested at 14.13% THC. That was higher than I expected. I won’t sugarcoat it, the flower was obviously mid-level, but it was decent mid-level. It had a faint smell which perked up when I ground it up for the Volcano.

The nugs color was not too vibrant but it had decent crystal coverage for an outdoor flower. The structure of the ounce itself was solid. There was not a flake of leaf or shake in the entire ounce. The buds were tight and dense, but perfectly dry so it broke up nicely. It was a bit stemmier than upper shelf flower, but nothing too concerning. I would describe the vapor flavor as being a bit like beets. It wasn’t stellar but it wasn’t bad either. "

I love me some black hash.
Used to buy it in Edmonchuck in the 80s/90s for 180 an ounce. It was everywhere... came from afghanistan... the Gold Seal....
I was living in Calgary from '76-82 and we got some nice hashes then. Temple Ball and some rocking finger hash along with the pressed dry sift types like Blond Leb. Some of the crew I hung with then were from back east and had connections in Montreal and got it shipped out. Was lots out there back in the day.

Calgary. Cow town. Where men were men and sheep were shy! :D

Dude $40.00=1.0z= 28grams/ = $us1.42 gram of 14.13%thc = wow
I paid 2.00 bucks a gram for a QP of outdoor Gelato since my last grow suffered some bad luck/shaky genetics (or me). Mid grade but worth it when it's $12-$18 gm retail.

Oregon Grew More Cannabis Than Customers Can Smoke. Now Shops and Farmers Are Left With Mountains of Unwanted Bud.

"In March, Robin Cordell posted a distress signal on Instagram.

"The prices are so low," she wrote, "and without hustling all day, hoping to find the odd shop with an empty jar, it doesn't seem to move at any price."

Cordell has a rare level of visibility for a cannabis grower. Her Oregon City farm, Oregon Girl Gardens, received glowing profiles from Dope Magazine and Oregon Leaf. She has 12 years of experience in the medical marijuana system, a plot of family land in Clackamas County, and branding as one of the state's leaders in organic and women-led cannabis horticulture.

She fears she'll be out of business by the end of the year."

Oregon’s Weed Glut: What Happens to Excess Pot?
Across the state, weed production has skyrocketed as demand has remained steady – which has left new growers with thousands of pounds of useless product

"In March 2017, growers destroyed about 3,367 pounds of usable marijuana, according to the state tracking system. In March of 2018, growers destroyed 13,976 pounds.

About a year into the venture, Fowler put his farm on the market. He sold it this month for a little more than he paid for the land. “It was a good time to get out,” he says.

Fowler estimates that he lost between $50,000 and $60,000 in his venture, and says he feels lucky about that figure. “People in the business,” he says, “hear what I lost and say, ‘That’s it?’”

Over at Icmag they have a thread called 'Wholesale pot prices plummet. Now there starting to get better' I used to go over there and tell them they better get into another line of work. Almost none of them believe me and get mad at anyone suggesting that. When the thread started in 2010, a pound was around 5000 dollars. hehe They say they will make craft pot which no one else can compete with. ok

They tax the fuck out of cigarettes and yet a pack is still under $10. 20 joints same thing. I think you will pay more than 10 bucks for 20 joints but still. Black market is gonna drive the cost of legal pot down to compete. You can grow outdoors for almost for nothing. As I said, 8 years ago they were getting $5000 a pound. Now it is less than $2000 for all and some let theirs go for less than $1000, mostly outdoor. This all happened before legalization. Granted medical was kind of legal but not the same as now.

The pot market in the US and likely Canada is all but finished for the small guys. There will be a few around but profit margins will be much smaller than now. How much bootleg beer or whiskey is there today? How much tobacco sold black market. Not talking about cigs sold without tax stamps or out of state and all those scams.

The home brewer mentioned he buys craft beer now rather than making it. Cheaper cause they do volume. You will not do volume out of your house or closet.

SO! i grow for fun right now... and those prices don't even compare to growing your own STILLLLLLLLLLL at 40$ a oz....... i can produce top shelf 400+g in one grow for 100 - 150 dollars... and have really good edibles and concentrate...
not to mention the therapy my plants give me while growing.... 40$ an oz can fuck itself... i wish i could get that around here..
BUT..... its definitely not enough to kill home growers who know their shit or put forth effort into growing... especially those who are getting 1g+ per watt.....
if you can only get away with 1 plant... then yeah... 40$ an oz isnt bad... but if your only growing one plant at a time... you aren't smoking much or saving much money.... unless its a big ol lady.

I'm willing to be the weed equivalent of the 'shine guy.

You gonna wear overalls and have gaps in your teeth hehe? I am gonna grow my own as I know it will not have mold or chemicals in it. But mostly cause who sells real Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Guerrero, Papua New Guinea or other heirlooms or low yielding hard to grow strains.

I think the future outlaws will look at pot growing as a way to make a few extra bucks. Not gonna be enough in it to provide a living like now. Unless you are growing acres of pot. I see no future for the small timer who is legal. Throw a few plants out in the wild or hidden areas and see if they make it. No lugging in special soil and irrigation systems.

It's the wild west. Who knows if that $40 oz has pesticides on it or not. I heard of a guy that sprays Raid on his weed to increase the buzz. I may still have to grow personal stash after all. If I could buy cheap weed that was tested clean then I could quit growing my own.
