1st time grower

Hey it’s my first time growing and I have some questions about getting started.

1. Is it ok to just put seeds directly into medium and water? I’m using a 300W LED grow light. Not sure about distance from seed that hasn’t popped through dirt yet.

2. In these early stages (indoor grow) are both inline fan and oscillating recommended? I just purchased the AC infinity. I have a 2x2 grow tent for personal obviously.

3.How many plants can go in a tent that small? 2x2 I put 5 in because I’m factoring for trial and error but I know if all 5 are successful I will need a much larger tent.

4. Grow tent height? What’s recommended for just someone who wants a small plant for personal use. I don’t need a cornstalk if I don’t have to lol

Hey I’m new so take that into consideration.

1. What kind of LED is it? actual draw from wall is likely to be different. It’s fine to just pop seeds in your medium to germinate.
2. Inline fan isn’t necessary this early but the oscillating fan will help strengthen your seedlings as they grow.
3. In a 2x2 one or two plants. I have 3 in my 2x2 now but could have filled the space just as much with 1.
4. How tall is your tent? I’d want 5 or 6 feet, but it depends how tall you get them before flipping to flower. Just factor in that they will probably at least double in size.

If your light actually draws 300 watts you will need to hang it 36in above the soil. You should definitely have a exhaust fan and a circulation fan for inside the tent. 2x2 is good for one plant or two pretty small ones. You can pull it off if you train your plants and start flowering when they’re 12-18in tall. You’re probably gonna want a bigger tent preferably 6.5-6.8ft tall

Thanks for the info!

1. It’s a Koo Power 300w LED

4. My tent is currently 4ft... if I keep this one how much time do I have before I should be looking to upsize without affecting the growth

I don’t know anything about that light. I do know that when it says 300w LED, it’s more often not the case. Does it say anywhere in the paperwork the actual draw? It may be great for a 2x2 but it may also not be.

Another factor is how much you actually smoke. You said you didn’t need much, that it’s just for personal use. An ounce may last me a couple months and another person a week. 2x2 may suit your needs fine.

Yeah similar to you I can stretch a ounce about a month or so, I don’t need pounds on top of pounds. Just want to be able to smoke for free off my own creation

I just looked up that light on Amazon and would not expect much from it. Than again it is only $42.99. They don't list the power draw which is a red flag but I would bet it is not 300 watts. What they do is add up the max voltage for each installed led and call it 300 watts but they never drive the led's that high. It is likely a much lower draw which is the number you need to worry about. Than it says "Please NOTE Don't More Than 6 Panels", if that is how they describe something I cannot have any faith in them. What is your budget for a light?

What’s a good light to go with that’s proven for this purpose? I did think the light was weak but I don’t know what I’m doing yet hahaha
If you get 2 maybe 3 more of the same light you will be good they are cheap enough

hlg 135 would be an excellent choice. i am currently running one in a similar tent and am very happy. i think with proper plant research and training you could easily keep yourself happy.

I was just going cheap to start out wasn’t really well informed just trying stuff based off YouTube videos hahaha but it’s looking like I need to spend like a good $100 on one which is fine if it’s going to give me the results I’m looking for
