Tomorrow will be my first attempt at making cannabutter, I'm going to follow a recipe that takes under a hour to finish. I've done a lot of reading and there seems to be either recipes that take extremely long or short !? Advice please ? And what's the high like compared to smoking it ?

Can you explain your recipe please ?
An hour sounds very quick to me

As sunni said, the effects are 90% on the body. It's a very relaxed feeling. Depending on quantity, you might feel sluggish and/or sleepy. I use edibles daily at night time to get rid of my restless leg syndrome. It helps put me to sleep as well.

Regarding an hour, I don't buy that at all. Please post your recipe.

I use 75%+ plus of my harvests for edibles. Here's how I do it:

- grind finely (coffee grinder) 1 oz of quality sugar leaf and bud
- smooth it out evenly on a piece of tinfoil, then put it in the oven at 225 degrees for 25 minutes (this "decarboxylates" the product, turning THC-A into the useful THC)
- melt 1 lb of butter (or I prefer coconut oil) with one tablespoon of water in a crock pot on low
- once butter is melted, mix in your decarb'd product
- leave in crockpot for 4 hours (always on low), stirring mildly every once in a while
- once done, pour into something that will shape the butter how you want it (I use a specific pyrex bowl), filtering out the product with cheesecloth)
- wring the cheesecloth out as best you can, then wrap it up, put it in a ziploc bag, and freeze it (these bundles of oily goodness are GREAT for stuffing your next chicken with)
- put in fridge
- once hardened, I cut the chunk up into quarters, wrap each quarter in saran wrap, then store in the fridge (or freezer)

I made butter yesterday for the first time.I don't think I have ever been that high in my life last night and well into the morning. My toe nails and eye brows were even high.I was not in the baking mood, so I just spread it right on some bread I toasted. I did not put that much on either. I would guess about 2 teaspoons at the most. Don't know if that's considered a lot or not. Must have did good for my first time. Woke up once at 3 am and could not believe how dam high I was. Did not want to even smoke till noon today.
Here is how I made mine, after reading some pro posts.
I took 1-1/4 oz of some Grape stomper OG I wasn't happy with and crushed it up and spread it out thin on a pan, covered it with foil and put it in a pre-heated 250 deg oven for 30 minutes, let cool. Think I should do 250 deg next time or cut the time back. Looked a little dark.
In my small crock pot I put in 1 pound unsalted butter, and 1 cup water (probably did not need it) and the trim.
Cooked on low for about 3 hours, stirring frequently. Poured it right into a potato ricer with cheese cloth into a bowl.
Refrigerated for a few drunkin hours then all the butter was hardened at the top, poured the liquid out that was at the bottom. Done!
Made some choc peanut butter cookies today. Did not try one yet. Scared!
