Thanks bro, built it fresh from the start but havent cut the holes in for the exhaust or intake, like i said im planning the silencer for the exhaust, do you think a silencer on the intake of the fan is nescessary aswell seeing as im pulling it from the Super Sun 2 ? Peace bro

Thank you bro, ill do some more searching on whats good although i might just go with the woolly type insulation in the pic below, i cant really see how thick the filter is cause its pretty much folded in the bag although i do know that they use smaller squirrel cage fans to pull through them.

Like you said bro, try it first, so my next step is getting sound proofing material in the fan box & around the ducting and try it like that, if its a bit too loud ill start crafting up a silencer, im having 2nd thoughts on the two fans but thinking of setting one up at the intake of the air cooled hood so it blows onto the light then the other one at the exhaust, but im dealing with about 5 foot of ducting and those fans might just pack up i think.

Peace & Respect (: :leaf:
Hey SouthernSoul*
Sound like you are all set. If the insulation is fiberglass if you have never used fiberglass before wear a long sleeve shirt because the fiberglass fibers will get into you skin pours and itch like crazy and scratching will just push them in more. T.T.F.N.

Thank you for the tip bro, so i take it the glasswool is the same as fiberglass ? will definitely wear a long tshirt and maybe even gloves, as for the silencer im going to first wrap some cloth around and then wrap the insulation so the fibers dont go everywhere while exhausting.

Think im pretty much set bro, just worried about the noise coming from the intake though

Going to wake up early in the morning and go buy that insulation so i can get this grow going, im aching for proper bud that i dont have to pay my ass out for.

Peace & Respect

Hey Denarfar and Southern Soil - hope all is well......

I have two 4" intakes to a single fan inside the grow space to blow fresh air in and on the plants. I need to duct/exhaust the air out now. New set up. This is the first time I've seen a carbon filter inside the grow space, then exhausting that air out of the room. Is the exhausted air so clean that there is no smell?

Hey Picnicbill, all is not too well until i get all my stuff sorted out dude, ive seen alot of people with carbon filters inside the room, i know some people like to push through the carbon filter but i dont think i have space outside to do that, it would depend how good the carbon filter is but seeing as im exhausting outside i dont think smell should be such a problem.

Are you trying to get your exhaust to be silent ?

Not so much silent, but I am in a master bath medicine closet so quiet would be best - I'll take what I can get. I have a very forgiving spouse so far in this journey.

Like I said - two 4" intakes in the wall from my adjacent home office in the next room and not venting out anywhere but in the bathroom so needing to exchange the air better (and contain smell). Flowering in about 3-4 weeks. I can cut another 4" hole but that would exhaust to my home office. CAN DO but obviously only if smell is contained. Pic is my 4" intake carbon filter. Sorry sideways

Dude you need fresh air coming in and old air going out, exhausting into the office with a carbon filter will be best, yours looks pretty decently made so i dont see why you should have any problems, you could pull through a carbon filter and exhaust out another one if you willing to spend the extra cash but i dont know how well your fan will take it.

Rather make or give me your forum post on this question with more details, not on this journal preferably bro. hope you understand. Peace !

SS, the further away from the end of any ducting your fan is the quieter it will be, intake or exhaust.

Sweet bro, thanx man, im busy working out what sizes to cut the insulation im getting but from what i have measured my exhaust ducting will be about 2 ft and the intake about a foot, hope that will suffice bro.

As for the wrapping, ive confirmed cannabean from icmag has done what i had in mind & it is almost silent according to him so im thinking of scrapping the cardboard box possibly. Basically he wraps the fan with cling wrap first then he wraps it with the insulation. Im thinking of putting the white plastic sheeting over again or using the box and covering it with the white sheeting. First off ill test it with the insulation, if im not happy a DIY muffler/silencer will come into play.

Cant wait to get some pictures up with some green in them : ) Respect Cannis.

Ill be honest though, reading up posts around forums its intense, one person says no insulation wont do much, the next person says that will definitely help in reducing the sound by alot, then one guy says no he doesnt use his muffler and sound proof box anymore he just straightened his ducts. Really really mixed up views all around but im going with the insulation if it doesnt do as i intended well no use getting angry at it.

Okay sweet bro, im going to try 30cm on each side first, i got a 3x4 foot piece today, i was thinking of opening up the whole sheet and sticking a plastic sheet on the fiberglass side, this could make it easier to work with cause i just tapped the insulation in the sunlight by my car and those little fibers fly everywhere. Peace : )

Yeah man unfortunately although fortunately i just measured it out and it was enough for the whole fan and i still have 4 foot to wrap around the ducts atleast.

So i blow my nose last night and just blood comes out ? I wore a dust mask working with tjat stupid shit. Seriously no wonder other growers dont recommend that shit insulation & the grow room is in my room, fucking risky, polyfill for the win, pissed off is what i am now. i could of bought 4 fucking pillows for the price of that gay retarded insulation.
