1st Grow

Going start up this journal, keep it updated, and hopefully all will go well, I'll learn lots and hopefully someone else will learn too if they're doin it at roughly the same time that I am.

Set up is small but that's all I can get away with. I'm opting for the smaller 'bonsai' option and pruning. Next step is Lowryder but for now this'll do for my 1st time!

Got a 125W CFL, 2 x 25cm fans (1 In, 1 Out)/Hygrometer with air & nute temps, Humididty meter & I'm growing 4 plants in combo soil/DWC. GrowRoom dimensions are 56x54x24cm (option to widen with basic home-mede framework and reflective material if needed) There is a total of 70+cm diagonal so I will be training the plants to grow slightly diagonal for a higher yield when the time comes..

Bout 2.5 wks in so far but only 4 full days with my system set up, seeds were germ'd under sunlight & artificial (but weak) light so they've stretched a bit..

Looking all good now and I'm just excited and happy to be finally doin my own grow rather than buying unloved, grown fast/cut early shite from various sources when there's no good about!!

Peace an thanks for lookin in! Any advice or questions welcome - Happy Growin!!

Also, forgot to put this in my post, the Intake/Output fans have faint blue LED's around the middle, will these have an adverse effect during dark hours or should it be equivalent to natrurally occurring light, ie. Moonlight? Read some places too that green light is all good, so was also thinking of getting some thin green tape to put over them.. Anyone else having similar thoughts just now or had in the past? Any advice appreciated! Cheers

Some of the leaf stems are a bit purple and the small on dosent really seem to be keeping up the pace. It has a purpleish stalk whereas the rest are nice & green. Little one also had 2 leaves (The original ones that showed under the weak artificial light system during germination & 1st week of veg) that shrivelled up so I just pruned them off. Happy so far! Peace.

i personally would upsize the pots and bury those stems just a bit then lower the light. its all about how far away the light is. you can get dense tight nodes with a cfl if you keep it close. they look great so far though keep it up. whats the strain by the way and as far as the light in the dark period goes. if your vegging the plant which is the stage where the plants grow all the bud spots, then light at nite is no big deal. but if your in the 12 hours dark period of flowering the plants, it can revert them back to veg and they wont flower. you want to get rid or cover any light leaks.

i can already tell the light is too far because those are seedlings and i cant see the light. cfls are good in the sense that they throw jack shit for heat. ive had plants grow right onto the bulb and nothing happens. get those lights about 1 or 2 inches from your plants. the farther away the floros get the weaker the light intensity becomes..
you know the best thing i ever did was go to home depot and buy a 100 watt hps lamp. it gives off no heat, well barely any and the growth is just amazing in comparison. its really really really worth looking into with your size set up. and it WILL increse your yeild 5 fold

Alright Jord.. Yeah I read that the light should be as close as possible so ill put a few things under the pots get thyem a bit higher.. looking into larger rectaungular pots that would fit directly into the hydro nute tubs mesh covering. Only using soil for this first grow then I'm trying hydro on its own. Cheers for the comments bout the light too I'll look into that also, more yield makes more happy! :-o

hell yeah. your local hydro shop will have containers of all shapes and sizes. i just went yesterday and bought 60 square 2 gallon bags. im vegging in the square bags till they get rootbound then im gonna upsize to 5 gallon buckets and flower under the 600 watts hps i have..seriously you should look into the hps 100s

those little tiny rounded leafs that first pop out. there only job is to open up that seed. then the first set of jagged TRUE LEAVES grows. i usually pull the first set of branches and leafs to open up the base of the plant to more light and to put more energy to growing at the top..it seems the bottom 2 branches are basically useless. they suck up energy and dont produce any worthwile ganja. so i pulled em on these last plants and so far so good

Sorry forgot to say about the strain type. I don't know exactly what they are but they came from a friend who had Jack H. Northern Lights & Blueberry seeds in one bag. He gave me a handful and that's them! Just bought myself some Top 44 seeds too so I got 10 of them but think my next grow is going to be a few different Lowryder strains..

 YEAAAAAAAAA Comin on nicely. Peace. Oh yeah, Can't use a HPS, sucks but ah well I'm just happy I'm doin' it. Bought a 300w Dual Spectrum CFL for the top flowers and I'll hook up the 125w for the side and lower flowers. Beast.

Well today is day 7 of flowering and I think 1 is starting to show it's a sexy female, it's quite aromatic up close too which is just tops..

Other ones are yet to show but everything's looking good got some close ups of the top of the (hopefully) female and a few generals..

Totally winging it here so any comments would be great about what you guys think if anyone's following me.

Peace bongsmilie

One week on.. nice bud starting to form on the far right one and one has really broken through the bottom of the pot, sending roots exploding all through the nute tub. DWC and Soil does work as a combo, and judging by the growth spurt by the one second from left, has proven that I dont need bigger pots, which is what I was hoping. Good news for small spaces! I know it's bigger and better yields from bigger pots etc but this is all I can work with.. Peace.

Just got my new light too, goin to set up a separate area see if I can get away with going bigger. Be over the next couple grows tho, for now I'm just sticking with the 125W for some invaluable experience. Bought some new seeds too over the past while, Lowlife Auto AK47 x Blueberry and Feminized Super Lemon Haze (2008 Cannabis Cup Winner) so I've some fun fun times ahead of me! lol peace.
