1st grow & using led

I recently went to Denmark and picked up some Jack H seeds while I was there. Tossed a few in a wet rag when I got home and ended up getting 3 that popped out.

I jumped on eBay and bought an LED light and a grow tent. Anyway ... here are pics of what I have so far and I am sure I am going to run in to some places where I need help so hopefully everyone here will go easy on my newb questions and concerns.

This is 5 days after dropping seeds in soil:

This is 8 days:

16 days

And today ... 22 days later...

Are they small for 22 days? I have them with the light on 18 off for 6. I have a fan in there with them blowing air around on low speed inside the tent. They are in Miracle Grow moisture control soil.

They are in my spare room and it has been cold here lately (low 60's) and this room does not get warm.

Should I make changes to anything or should I keep on the path I am on?

Here is the light, fan & tent

What is a T5 setup and what is the issue with LED? I am trying to keep the energy bill down a bit but not such a big issue, more or less wanted lower start up costs. Not looking for huge crops, just more or less doing this for fun and self medicating.

I've heard good things for using LED grow light's to be honest and is electric bill friendly which is good. and going by what your photo's show, it can't be all that bad with the LED lights, I'm on a budget of practically 0 for mine so looking to see if I can get one of my family to by me one myself lol. Misses controls the money so I dont get any for my medication lol

T5 is a flourecent lighting system very easy on the energy bill

forget flourescent. this guy has 3 plants not 30. put it this way, if youre worried about the cost of HID lighting, i've had mine on 24 and the bill went up about 7 bucks. those LEDs should be touching those plants, no? a couple of CFL bulbs might help and dont cost much either. otherwise they look good. just wait on nutrients because that miracle gro has enough for a while

Okay so lower the light? I was thinking that last night when I took the pic. The LED does not get hot but it does get luke warm so with these colder temps we have been having maybe closer is better for a lil bit of heat to? Anyone else know?

Also the cost of running was not an issue as much as the cost of setup, I went with the LED because I got it for 38.00 on eBay and the tent was 40.00 from the same people on eBay ... so $78.00 spent and I had the fan and a power strip with digital timer built in already. Also had the dixie cups they started in from beer pong, the pots their in now from who the hell knows what (they were just in my garage) and the soil cost me 8.00 for 2 bags and I have only used 1. So with the cost of seeds (12.00 in denmark in USD) I am at $98.00 which is less then what I have seen HPS lights for but trust me I would LOVE to get a nice HPS setup at some point. I have an aeroponics setup my cousin gave me today ... I am going to try cloning to see if I can get that thing going ... everything I have been reading makes it seem like the better choice over soil.

I've heard alot of good things about them, I would certainly say it's worth trying, as soon as I can scratch some cash together, I'm certainly thinking of trying them my self.

just added a second LED light. The plants are looking good. 3 females. We went in to 12/12 cycle last week. I will post new pics in a week or so.

let me know how you turn i thooght about going led but im going to go with the floros i like the choice of color spectrum and the no fire issue with HID bulbs that are hot. although work well in a cellar. but not so safe in a closet thats hard to vent.

after this harvest i plan on going to HPS & aeroponics. I bought something called the Flame defender, I hope to never have to test and see if it works but it claims it will put fires out if they start. Its more or less an extinguisher that hangs in the grow area, if the temps top 155 it goes off spraying a dry chemical everywhere to put the fire out. Like I said I have never tested it, I hope I never have to test it but the idea of it seems like it would work. Check out the you tube video for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a77fD8fUayg

I will post new pics of the grow here next week ... I want them to get a lil more in to the 12/12 so they can hopfully get juicy. And of course I will keep everyone posted on harvest when done.

Just for the heck of it (and for comparison to the first set) here are pics I took 2 days ago. I would say LED works and the proof is in the pics. ;)

I'd say it's probably low temp because I'm doing the same thing and my plants were making very slow progress @65F until I added a heater and got the room up to 76-80F. Since then they've really taken off. My LED is a 90W UFO (Sunshine Systems), plus 4x 14W daylight CFL in the corners since the grow is oversize for the UFO.

the wattage output of your led lamp is very low and cant help but think that you would be better off using it as a supplementry light rather than as your main light. sure your plants look good and healthy but no where near as big as what they could be. they look like they might buckle under the weight of some good bud. ill be keeping an eye out for some more pics. was thinking of doing a led grow myself so very interested in the end result.. but good results medi +rep

I have also decided to turn the heater on in the room keeping it at a nice temp between 70 and 75 and with the door closed to the room it stays pretty nice in here now. I bought some Bamboo stakes to tie them up to so they don't fall over so hopefully that takes care of the weight of bud issue. As for the wattage, yeah I went LED this time around because I just wanted a hobby but it turns out this is fun! So I have a Aeroponics setup and I plan to buy a 600 Watt HPS for the next grow.

I did have a concern, the pot size ... they went from a dixie cup to a quarter gallon and now in a half gallon, should I give them a bigger pot now that I am flowering? And since they are all females would 1 big pot for all 3 of them do fine?
