Hello all, i have been reading and researching this website to near exhaustion and, quite honestly, to unhealthy obsession for the past month. Now, i have my materials assembled, and im ready. i am starting this journal with the hopes that I may attract the attention of a few veteran growers who may be able to offer any advice they might have. stealth is of the utmost importance for my little grow here, too many unannounced visitors if you know what i mean. so i have a flowering box, built by me and my girlfriend. we used 1/8" sheets of somethin or i other i found at home depot. framed in with 1x2's. 27" long x 20" wide x 52" inches high. i started off with a 250w HPS with used ballast and new chrome batwing reflector and new bulb. $100 shipped (insidesun.com). Lasko fan (similar to Stanley blower) for $50, has two outlets and 3 speeds. lined the inside with mil2 Mylar. this box wouldnt fit into my attic, so i had to disassemble it and haul it up in section (really a pain). my veg box will hopefully veg my ladies until they are around 8"-10", at which time ill bring em upstairs... the box is an old big screen TV i modified for this op. throught the rear panels of the TV i can maintain the plants, cut square hole just above top panel and put an old PC fan fo extraction, lined inside with mil1 Mylar, removed front speakers for passive intake. 8 x 23w CFL's 6500k for the illumination. i underestimated how bright it was gonna be in there. so i germed 2/2 Seedsman W.W. using paper towels in a tupperware, 2/5 G13 Power Skunk germed, so i took the last 3 and threw them in the dirt. well those two eventually came up. so now i have 2 widow sprouts (1 week old) and 4 P.S. sprouts (4-5 days old). its funny how dominant the indica/sative leaf structure is, the WW have wide fat leaves, while the P.S. have these skinny little ones. just gave the ww's 1/4 strength nutes today.

the pics there are from before i was totally finished, ill have some more soon of the finished product. like i said, my ladies are only a week old now (from germination) they are in Pro-mix BX, ph'd water for the first 6 days, today used 1/4 strenght generic veg formula (20-6-16) my hydro store sells it by the pound (powdered). i fed this after i tranplanted them into their 3gallon pots, intend for this to be their permanent home. any ideas so fay on what i might do any different?? the promix sure seems like it dries out fast, im watering everyday it seems!!

i still need to make me a DIY carbon scrubber, i figure i got a couple weeks til i start flowering anyway. it is horribly hot and humid here in the summer so i am pretty sure i willl prolly have to make a cool tube as well... im gone try to get at least a harvest in without while its winter/spring here. either way i am already planning on connecting the passive intake of my box to an a/c vent from the bathroom, guess itll just be hot in the bathroom now?? lol. at least this way the ambient temp of the box will be closer to room temp than the attic temp (95-100?) you should have seen what i went through getting this box where it sits...

thnx man, i have read in a couple spots that 1 week after germ you can add nutes 1/4 strength when using promix...?

I don't know about the promix, but those seedlings are sensitive and you will slow down your growth if they get nute burn. Maybe try it on half the plants and see if there is a difference. Its easy to get over excited and do more harm than good to your plants. Good luck,I'll stay tuned!

funny thing here i noticed, one of the power skunks has a 3 leaf set on its first node.... all the rest have just on leaf

ok so after thinking on it for a while, i decided to go ahead and put a couple seedlings straight into flower. they're only a week old, but i have read a couple testimonials to where it has worked out, albeit small yeild. im thinking of this as a trial run, practice so that i dont screw up when i have 2 1/2 footers in their with swelling buds lol. also, i have limited height to work with. 52" tall for the box. the pots are 10", the light can only be raised so that it hangs 12" below the lid. guess that leaves 40" for the plant and any space in between plant and light. so, that being the case, im pretty sure i will be doing a screen down the road. for this trial run i will prolly just do a little training. i am very anxious to see what results i can acheive by flowering at 1 1/2" inches lol.

the "girls" are now 12 days old, i have been having a problem for the past few days. ive read all the faqs, all the stickys, looked at all the pics.... i havent seen this anywhere. leaves are curling up at the edges-lengthwise. color seems to be ok, fairly uniform green. i water about every 2-3 days, when 2 knuckles deep is dry. been on 1/4 strength nutes since 1 week old. in promix with runoff water ph around 6.5 they get 1/4 strength epsom salts with the feedings. they are still growing vigorously.... what the heck is going on??
