Day 14

Wow is all i can say. The amount of growth between last night when I looked at them before going asleep to today. I am very surprised.

It think its because my ladies knew today was my Birthday! The plants were thinking to themselves "we are growing up nice and strong and big just for you."

If you got the time compare the pics from Day 13 to Day 14. Amazing.

The sprout in the propagator is not having much luck. I don't know if she will make it past that delicate stage in the life cycle. The kiwiskunk is no where to be found. I have almost already written her off  poor lady. But I've read here and on other sites that the attrition rate for a first time grower is about half. So im not too worried. I have two amazing looking ladies.

Well here are the pics!

Peace

They are looking great. Couple of questions... what soil/mixture are you using? Also how are you controlling temps or planning on controlling smell when its time to start flowering? I'm assuming this is a closet grow. I ordered some AK48's a couple days ago. In the meantime I have a LOT of reading and set up to do. (Being that I am a total noob to growing) Your pictures will be great for comparison sake not to mention inspirational.

I am using Scott's soil i believe i took a picture of it and its on the first page... the temp is gonna be my most difficult obstacle it gets pretty hot where I live in the afternoon. So far just opening up my closet cools the grow room down and I have a fan blowing cool air over my ladies. As far as smell, i was told that all i need is some air freshener and if that doesn't work I can light some incense or a few candles around the house. Thank you for your positive energy Hotpepper. I hope you have a wonderful grow when you get set up. I for one just added some more lights because my girls are getting big and need more lights. Pics coming soon.

Day 15

Well here we are and the girls just seem to be getting bigger and bigger. I am really getting excited with how they are growing so quickly. I was thinking about forcing flowering after they get their 4th set of leaves. Today I added some new lights to the grow room and the girls seem to like the additional lighting. Well here are the pics.

I would wait to force flowering till they show sex!!! ive read and heard that if you flower them before they show sex this can slow down growth by stressing your baby girls!!! ask some more people or do a bit of reading to make sure!! but i dont want to see you start to flower and then they all go weird on you!!! don't forget im a new grower too so i could be more than likley wrong!!

Just have a little check before you do it!!!!

Good luck make!!

From my own personal research and from what other people have told me, is that the Cannabis plant does not show sex until it goes into flowering. There are some signs during the vegetation cycle that could lead a person to believe that they are showing sex. I am by far no expert in the area but that's what i've got so far. Although I don't have to worry (I hope) because both of my plants are feminized. Thank you for your insight and positive energy.

Day 16

The time if flying by fast and my little ladies are growing strong and fast. All the more better I say. Anyways, I added some more lighting and failed at making a adjustable light fixture so I ended up just moving the new lights to surround both of the plants. I got some really great pictures today of both of my beautiful ladies and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.

Day 17

Everything is moving along smoothly and the ladies are growing nicely , except one minor bump in the road. I hope its only a minor bump. I think I may have over-watered one of my beautiful babies. She is sagging and from all the information that I have gathered from this site is that she is showing signs of being over-watered. So I am going to wait a couple of days and use the soil moister tester again before I water. Other than that they both seem to be doing fantastic. Both plants are very green and are taking full advantage of the extra lighting that I put in there a couple of days ago.

If anyone else as any suggestions as to what the problem would be as far as why she is drooping like that , please post.

Peace

How strange, I was just reading a thread on another forum about that. From what I got out of it was over watering or the stems aren't strong enough to support the weight of the leaves due to lack of air circulation. Do you have a fan in there circulating the C02? Just a thought but remember I'm a noob so..... might wanna get a second opinion.

Ya i have a rotating fan on them. I really do think its over-watering. Hopefully she will bounce back from it soon. But ya thank you for the insight.

I had the same problem, infact it still happens to mine but only at the end of the day when the lights are about to go out for there 12 hr nightshift(their in flower) as yours are younger i would say that it may be overwatering!! just let it dry for a few days and then just add smaller amounts of water!! everything should be ok!!!

Thank you Baggins for your words of wisdom.

I am not going to water today either, i checked the soil moisture tester again and it is still reading moist/wet.

Day 18

Both plants are doing well. 1 of my ladies however is still suffering from being over-watered a day ago. I am hoping that if I just let her alone and not water her for a few days she will bounce back. The soil moisture tester is still reading around the 8 on the moisture scale and that reading is on the high end of moist next to wet.

My other fine lady is doing just great, she is healthy and strong. Both plants are getting close to having four fully developed sets of leaves, once this happens I'm going to force flowering. I do not believe I have enough CFL bulbs to support larger plants. Ohh and pics!

Peace

Congrats on your first grow! You are really going to like that AK48. Saw an entire grow with it, tried the smoke too. The thing about the AK is thats its hard to kill. It survived, no, thrived in some poor conditions, such as high heat, low TDS, resisted root rot when others didnt. Also it really does finish fast. 48 days is an exageration but it was the fastest finisher in the room.

Oh yeah the smoke is real nice too!

By the way it kind of bushes out on its own, it is not main cola dominant, so you dont need to FIM it if that was the plan. It didnt get as tall as the others, it was medium/short.

Oh...btw... a plant can show sex before flowering, its called preflowers, the females will have a little pistil, although not all strains have obvious preflower indicators.

And yes you can flower a plant before it shows sex. The yield is not as great as if you veg but it will bud just fine. As a matter of fact, Im enjoying a bowl right now that was 12/12 from seed. I just did it as an experiment and it turned out pretty good quality, just low yield...got 10g from a bagseed.

Positive vibes to you....
