Thanks Bongzilla :) The heat is holding steady at around 75-77.

The LST and super cropping amazed the shit out of me yesterday. Within 8 hours, all of the plants new LST'd branches and all supercrops had self-righted and started new tops. Shits taking off now:)

Stevieh,

Wait until I post an updated picture of Bushy Kushy (the special kush, yeah i know, very clever name lol). Since it is the only plant started from seed I plan to clip a clone this evening and flower so I don't get my hopes too high if it ends a male and more importantly so it doesn't pollenate all the ladies if something I didn't catch it time.

But kushy has stayed really squatty and bushy which I have read is more of a female trait (crossing fingers).

Ok. I'm fucking pissed. I've been inspecting daily for any signs of mites or pests, and now this when I went to clip a clone, I found a couple leaves with what appears be the tell-tale sign of spider mites, light spots the top of the leaves. BUT I can't find any fuckin mites or other pest on the underside or topside of ANY of my plants.

Maybe I'm misdiagnosed? Please take a gander at this pic and let me know what y'all think.

OK, I did a thorough inspection and EVERY plant top to bottom and... good news, no spider mites. None. Yeah no spider mights, just root aphids! :banghead: WHAAAAAT THE FAAAAAAAACK!? I really really hope I'm wrong, but I got fliers, and the only other flier is usually just fungus gnats right? And fungus gnats wouldn't do that to a leaf.. right?

I had been thinking they had a mag. deficiency for a couple of days, so I fed with cal-mag plus today. Each plant took about 3 qts., no additional vits/nutes. De-foliated all plants by about 30% (any unnessecary fan leaf).

The only hope is that they DID have a mag/cal def. and this will stop the disoloring of the leaves - and that the fliers aren't root aphids but simply fungus gnats. Note: no crawlers of any kind ANYWHERE.

*Optimistically Heartbroken*

Still not sure wtf I have yet. Fungus gnats or Root Aphids. (Only have flyers. No crawling nothing.)
Figure 1:

After seeing this on the one leaf I looked at my plants top to bottom everywhere. Soil, bottoms of leaves, tops of leaves, grow room, etc. Anyhow, after inspecting I saw not a single sign of a spider mite, or any crawler for that matter, and anything I thought might be something, I scoped it at 100X magnification - nada!

HOWEVER, I did have flyers... which I previously thought was simply harmless gnats or fruit flies. But after seeing the spots on the leaf, I thought I would start doing some research. Which is when I learned about fungus gnats and root aphids.

Everything I read about the fungus gnats suggested they were far less harmful and rather easy to rid the garden of. Everything I read about root aphids suggested that they are extremely devastating to a garden and equally as difficult to get rid of. But I also read (about RA) that once flyers are present, it's after a strong population exists, yet I have not seen a SINGLE crawler of anything anywhere - and trust me, I've been looking.. for hours at a time.

I had been thinking they had a calcium and mag. deficiency for a couple of days, so I fed with cal-mag plus Saturday night and clipped all foliage that had any specks or sign of deficiency, etc. (this was also to rid as much foliage that may potentially have eggs of some sort on/under).

Since Saturday, out of all of my plants (11) there may be a max of like 3-5 leaves that have any new yellow on them at this point, so it makes me somewhat optimistic about the fate of my plants.

The flyers of course still exist since I haven't treated with anything and won't until I know what I'm attacking. So with that said, I have captured some of these little fuckers and took pictures in hopes the good people on RIU like yourselves may be able to assist in identifying the bastards. Figure numbers provided for easy reference. Without further ado...

So it's been several days since I've posted about any "progress" in plant growth, so thought I'd check-in.

First thing! I'm really happy with results since feeding them the CAL-MAG. They all went from just being "meh" to "yippee

And checkout the progress on Tard plant (ICE 1)!

Here's all the ladies:

Suffice to say, I plan to continue to give them a half dose of the cal-mag each feeding.

Well happy Thanksgiving all!

Hey man ....

They are looking like the real thing now......
They really perked up ....

You have a interesting amount of plants at different heights be good to see how you handle the canopy ....

I know it... :-/ I'm a little unsure at the moment as well. It's because of the unstable growth rate of some of the clones at the beginning.

Nice, I like the move to the 1kw. couple thoughts- you got a bunch of different strains going, throwing a screen over the top makes it easier to keep an even canopy. I just keep tucking mine back under till the screen is around 2/3 full then flip. supercropping also works, but it's alot more work imo and it can stop/slow growth for a few days while the plant recovers.

the best # of hours light for veg is pretty arguable, but 18/6 is definately cheaper than 24, and I'm not aware of many side by side grows that showed 24 hrs light being better.

you were asking about light height, afaik 24 in is about the min for 1kw. 4x4 @ 62w/sq ft is about idealk afaik so raising/lowering the light till the footprint just touches the walls @ the top of the canopy should be a good starting point. If its gettin g too much light it willl start to lighten at the top esp directly under the bulb.

bti (mosquito dunks...) and spinosad are pretty good preventive measures for most bugs, also safe (bacteria) and cheap. sticky cards are great imo too.

Happy turkey day

Very Interesting so far ... Sub'd

I have been researching for about 6 mo or so and I find something new every time. lol Been wanting to get my grow going for awhile now, but due to security reasons, I was just able to drop some seeds today (YAY). I put down 4 bag seed (My very 1st grow) and hoping to get at least 1 fem. If not, I have many seeds to try (All Bag). That's all I can grow with my "stealth CFL grow" anyhow (1 plant). Watch all 4 be fem ... then what ? lol I will start a thread after they sprout and I get it all together. Will let you guys know.

Research for me on growing is kinda like looking up something on YTube ... the next thing I know (2hrs later) I am waaay on the wrong side of YTube ! rofl I kinda get lost in it.

I have to say that the two most interesting topics (to me) that I found, are eye opening as well as important. Some may argue ... but makes sense to me. I think that you touched on one with your clones from flower. Don't be pissed (1st post) read this and lmk what you think. May help your canopy ideas also.

What is a flowering clone ? Hope I don't get in trouble for posting link to other (similar) site ... I don't see why I would ?
The Never Ending Abuse of Phosphorous (Bloom foods) to Enhance Flowering This one may be the most interesting to me.

GL, and I am watching

Hey TM, no apology needed at all for posting good info :)

I've come to the conclusion that my stunted growth was my own fault not my flower-to-veg clones. :D I'm pretty sure it was the fact that I DIDN'T PH MY F'ING WATER! Lol - yes, super newb mistake.

See... I thought since I was growin in an organic soil medium that I didn't need to pH. I mean, I saw that EVERYWHERE in books and forum threads that it wasn't necessary for soil. This is, IMO, very misleading.

Yes, when a plant is in young veg and after has been transplanted into final pot that will in the chop may be acceptable (note my choice of words) acceptable doesn't mean IDEAL. The reason people say there is no need to pH is because the soil mix (mainly the peat that's in the majority of org. soils) will act as a buffer and bring the pH to an "acceptable" level. The thing I didn't pay attention to was that there isn't much soil in a f'in solo cup! Lol. Less soil = less buffer, a lot less.

On top of that, I am quite certain I over watered the girls, adding insult to injury. I probably cost myself a good two weeks of stunted growth. My pH where I live is 8.2... considering 1 ph "point" is a factor of 10x more acidic or alkaline (depending on if your dropping our increasing) it's unlikely my soil actually buffers 8.2 down to 6.2.

What i mean by that is: pH of 7.2 is 10x more acidic than 8.2, 6.2 is 100x more acidic than 8.2 - a lot to ask of your soil no? Anyway.. I now pH my water and let it sit and aerate in a 50 gallon res so it's good and ready my girls before I give it to them. *lesson learned* :D

As far as your seeds, def let me know when they pop and you start your journal, I'd love to follow.

Oh yeah... sadly this is the case with anything I find interesting, not just MJ haha.
