1lb plants 1st attempt

For anyone growing in hydro. This bit of advice might just save you quite a bit of time. It is NOT neccessary to adjust the ph of your water for flushing. When we flush we want the plant to run out of nutrients thus forcing it to use up its stored nutrients. When we give a plant water that has a ph of 7 (my tap water) this makes any nutrients still in the medium unavailable to the plant which in turn speeds up the flushing period. Remember we want the plant to use up any stored nutrients, plants with an abundance of nutrients still left at harvest are associated with poor quality buds.

If you were to give the plant ph balanced water say 5.8 then all your doing is encouraging the plant to take in more nutrients. It's acctually astounding how much nutrients these lil rockwool cubes hold. Best thing to do is lock out the plant asap then get to work flushing out the medium whilst still providing water and oxygen to the roots. I use slightly warm water as this dissolves the salts left in the medium more easily therefor making it easier to flush them out.

Except this screws up the plant's osmotic balance. I've had much better results with just reducing the nutrient strength for the last week before chop. The plants continue to grow, fill out and get frosty instead of starving. In other words, more of everything we want from our plants.

4x omega 600w hps ballast and super hps bulb bro.

Wouldn't that still fuck the osmotic balance up? Levels of osmosis within the plant and rootZone are constantly changing, even between waterings. I've personally done side by sides with no flush vs flush with straight tap wAter, true the plants with no flush continue to pack on weight but the plants with just plain tap water produced better bud. Flushing is allwAys gonna be a divided topic. Its actually easier for me to flush rather than not flush cos I can recirculate the flush water and drop the ppm in stages rather than all at once. But I do prefer to have my plant lock out rather than wait for it to slowly malnourish, makes for a quicker flush too.

I've heard of people cutting nutes and upping the h2o2 dosage during flush but never really discovered why, any idea tty? Maybe it's to combat the dropping osmosis levels within the root zone but I'm not sure. #ttystikk

I`ve been hit by rot in flush before doing hydro so I always ph down a bit but my tap water is around ph7.6 sometimes go`s up to 8.4 and can go nasty fast if things aren't right

but what I like about non hydro set ups or drain to waste is I can just use sugar for the last 2 weeks or so really cuts down cost because you can buy a huge tub of dextrose cheap

sometimes I use potassium sulphate instead of sugar then sometimes I just give water for 3 to 10 days at the end, depends how the plant looks and what I have to hand

Some people may use h2o2 to make sure the plant stays fresh, as during flush when you cut nutes is when hungry things you may not know was in your grow start to eat your plants

Another reason why the sugar flush can work well more so in soil, as anything else that was eating the nutes and leaving your plants alone will likely eat the sugar instead of your plant but obviously sugar can cause all kinds of rot if things aren't right so h2o2 seems like a way to protect your plants in their last week or 2

Some people say soaking meat and veg in a mild h2o2 and water mix keeps it fresh longer and makes it taste better

I guess mould tastes bad so not rot always tastes better even if it takes a little bleach make sure, lol

Very good read, it's actually encouraged me to use my 2 600W's and attempt 2 monster Jack herer plants when i finish my current flower.

I got 27 oz of prime bud and I'm hashing a further 4 of undesirable. So 27 of dense lovely lemony haze bud and a lot of dry sift for edibles and water hash for work days evenings and weekends lol

Thought I might have 30 of prime and abit less undesirable but that's just how the cookie crumbles. Next run is sure to be better cos il be putting 3 plants in and the 4 600s will run from the get go.

Damn! Looks good! So 27 over all for 2 plants? I like it! I've got 7 scrogging out that look to be about that size. Cool thread. Thanks!
