yes it can be done with a 600w.

The hydro, or soil is up to you??I'm still working with soil.

With a 600w, best to scrog or lst.I've seen a pound under one 600w with one plant!

With the veg time of a month, i would lean against topping since it stunts the plants more than lst or scrog. however a big issue is canopy space and with 12 plants that could mean that natural may be better than bushy plants. Each plant only gets like 1.33 ft^2 of room to grow.... Definitely can be done though.

Maybe add CO2?

Its alot easier to get a pound with hydro, over soil.
And the strain plays a big part aswell...
I was growing this strain called Fucking Incredable, and I vegged her for 10 weeks, and topped her like 4 times, in a 3/4 full trash can with Roots and Fertiloam.
I think there were like 15 or 16 colas, we also lollipoped her.
I used this fertilizer called Osmocote. I had a buddy use it with great success, so I mixed it in with the soil the first and second month of veg and the plants looked awesome. Then about a month into flower, I added kelp meal, epsom salt, and watered with a bat guano tea and Liquid Karma, and I got a huge yield. I cant remember what the final weight was, but It was at or over a pound. It was crazy. If you got the space and the time, try it

Anyways, if you want to hit a pound, your gonna have to veg for a little longer than a month, id suggest 6-7 weeks.
You also want only one particular strain to maintain uniformity for even light distribution. You also want to use co2 and I would top each plant at week 4 of veg and lollipop a few days before the start of flowering. Shoot for 2 single colas per plant.
Keep the plants stress free and I bet you would get a pound

It is very possible, but that doesn't mean it's easy. The key to efficiency is an even, full canopy. No matter how many plants you have, this will determine your final yield.
One plant, if topped and trained correctly, could easily produce a gram per watt under a 600W. But, 20 topped plants (1 per sq. ft.) could produce the same result, perhaps with even more A+ quality buds.
So it's not all about plant numbers. It's about the technique you use to get the result you want.
I also think that hydro is the way to go if you're on a strict schedule. Maybe a monster DWC scrog?

you have read a lot on the subject. now it is time for you to make a decision and do it.
you may not get 1 lb however it is a sure bet you will not harvest anything until you plant something.
