I agree I think 20/4 is th one 18/6 is good for the lekky bill but I grow from seed mostly n it takes ages but after a month maybe longer I will make that mother and do as many clone as I can usually get 5 or 6 + mum will grow stil if you don't strip her bare(she may have shock) but soon gets over it.i do this cos my cfl + 2 30w LEDs are in a 50cm high 2x m long 50cm deep .i wish I had the room and money for a veg tent but I'm in a 6ft x 8ft shed n my 12/12 tent takes up the room(any ideas) I have 5 x N.L x skunk number#1 all with beutafull flowers 4 weeks in n I have pure kush in veg ,fast growing little girls that's my problem if it out grow the veg box before my kush is done,see my dilemma (any ideas welcome pls)

If you want to save power, 18/6. If you don't have a timer, 24/0.
People who say it will slow down under 24/0 are wrong. People who say it will grow better under 18/6 simply notice more stretch. The plant doesn't need sleep. The whole concept of needing sleeping sounds totally ridiculous to all those who veg with 24/0 with great results.

Be carefully if you have indica cos I flower at 13/11 it has me ver failed,my idea behind it is that extra hour pmomotes a little more growth.im probably wrong?

someone who has imperfect conditions needs a dark cycle
what a dark cycle does IMO, is allows the plant to build up carbs and whatnot and get ready for the next day
when you have some variables in your room that need work, such as temperature, the plant will help combat with its stored energy
giving a dark cycle allows the plant to save up the energy and be ready for stuff like temperature swings
I like a 20/4 cycle but I have been running 24/0 lately
on top of this, it allows the overheated room to cool off
try planning the dark cycle for the hottest part of the day
keep in mind, the dark cycle makes a huge difference when your grow conditions are fucked, but if you have it all dialed in , it's pretty much like churchhaze said

Cheers nizam I'm gonna do it 12 till 4 should I have fan n air exchange or a fan or air exchange ,up until today we have the u/k has had lovely weather 22c but foggy n down to 16c
.ive just turned lights of in veg box as it's 12:30 here,just setting a timer.oh yeh nizam after 3 attempts a Swazi gold I found this morning on top of the soil with a lovely tap root about 10mil long n2mil thick she's gone in the soil n I will guerrilla her when she's ready ,not too strong but a Sativa gets me up n going

After talkin to nizza I now 20/4 midday till 4 .i have a 105w split (so two) also 2x30w LEDs screwed to the top of my veg box,so cos cfl's are cool I had my week old from seed always had light24/7 our week of sunshine last week so it was going under a 400wHPS in my 12/12. Tent then in the morning put her out in the sun( (the most powerfull lamp in our universe,no worry about all the spectrums).so I had the pure kush on a tin so only an inch from bulb 4 hours later she was pressed up against the bulb so that's just over a inch in 4 hours

I use 20/4 but im growing an auto, but its working awesome for me, thick short stem and plenty of top growth, my lady is only 2 weeks old n looking awesome

I done a few autos last year(gurrila) a good summer n I could thing is my regs were gold of got two harvests if I weren't so disorganised .they we're put out at your size I reckon3 weeks veg n straight into flower .yeh they are fast little sods,I had to top them
n got plenty of sights also L.s.t for defo.she 3was auto Maria 2 n 1 vertigo,crap yeild .20g on the Maria's n a poxy 10 g vertigo was shit but Maria had a lovely Sativa buzz to it IDE have a pipe n try n learn the saxThing is my regs were boys
But a good summer but I carried so much water so this year I've found a desolate stream so they will go dig good soil in and have em close but not too close incase of flood.that ground don't need watering ,I'll just go bird watching once a week to check top em when ready.i only buy fems now peace smudge

Yea i had the whole carrying water problem also when i grew outdoors (guerrilla grow also) its a pain in the ass lugging gallons of water back n forth, i found a nice spot with a fresh water stream a few yards away, so im using water from the stream now, and as for my auto's i have them in a small 30"x18"x36" mylar tent under 4 42w cfl's, gonna add another 4 some time next week since theyre really maturing now, i have one skunk automatic from white label and a trans siberian auto from autoseeds, the breeder says the trans siberian has 22+ %thc so im hoping she lives up to her standards.

Hey, I know the thread is old and all but it interested me as I have just tried something that seemed to work wonder's and saved me some scratch and which I shall do a proper documented trial run of in my next grow.
Well basically, it is called GLR- gas lantern routine(look it up on google) and involves running your light schedule for 13 hours a day although I tweaked mine and did it for 13.5 hours a day.
It works on a 12/12 routine but halfway into the 12 hour dark, you interrupt it with an hour light. so 12(on) 5.5(off) 1(on) 5.5(off)
Now as I said, I did not properly trial it as I was on 18/6 for 2 weeks before I found out and used glr for 3 weeks.
From what I saw however in that 3 weeks, this light schedule kicks ass, the branching is amazing, much quicker growth than 18/6 or 24 and bloody cheap. On my next run I shall trial this from the get go but so far, I give it a thumbs up.
Now, about this 24/0 18/6 argument, I personally think 18/6 or 20/4 (if not glr). I'm not a believer in they need to sleep but they work in the dark, their roots take off in the dark and I just feel 24/0 is a waste of leccy.

Damn right cuzz thank god we have found streams ,only probs is people love to walk by water.i have a dinky sream on a far land n is desolate ,I've sat up there all day chuffing away like a chimney,on a Sunday when familys love a walk it was lovely day .from where I sat with binocs I saw not one person.ive sawn/chopped down a big old dead tree(so deep in no farmer came n I'm chopping like a cult for2hours,also you can tell if people have been there by checking the floor ECT.I wish I could afford one of them wildlife cameras you strap to a tree.sorry I chopped the tree so I get the morning sun so now if sunny I've got sun from04.30 till 3:00 ish in after noon,they say you need 5 hours so I'm good .allways take a compass when exploring so yo know where your situation is and wot our big grow lamp in the sky peace Smudge
