Got a buddy who has a sour diesel going into its 17th week of flower under 1000watt cfl. Plant is starting to push nanners.... trichs still 100% clear and pistols are still white...
Any thoughts?

Hard to believe with the amount of seasoned growers here and nobody has any thoughts on this?

Besides the male flowers, will it also start to seed? He wants to let it go another month. I mean shit. 19-20+ weeks of flower. I haven't put eyes on it in over 2 months. With pistols still white and trichs still 100% clear, could it be shifting to producing seeds and not buds? Pics aren't the best but I'm just struggling with why/how this still has 100% clear trichs going on 18 weeks of 12/12???:wall:

Sour d is known for throwing nanners and hermies. 17+ weeks seems way to long on that strain more like 11-12 weeks max

I told him something is wrong. And I almost feel like he might have missed a nanner that opened. And now the production of the plant has turned to seeds. I mean, what else would keep trichs clear 18 weeks into flower? I was reading about "monoecious" plants and that was one of the explanations. Last ditch effort to reproduce it will throw nanners and seed. And once a plant is pollinated, the plants energy switches to the seeds and not bud production. And this is kind of where I think he's at... ??

I had a plant go to seed from a herm that i missed until too late.. The bud was still amazing. In my opinion I think people spew a lot of mis-information. Also it did not stop the production of thc or the convention from clear to amber.

this. if your buddies plant isn't ready its probably because it's stressed. It may have hermed due to its natural life cycle. left in flower the plant will die on its own as Cannabis is an annual.
I think those pics make it look like its past done or very full of seeds. those calyxes are huge and it seems significantly older than what i've come to consider prime in my garden for all but the longest running sativas. Looks aren't everything though i could be wrong.
On a side note Trichomes aren't everything. When a plant looks ripe, it is. Make sure your looking at the big picture and not just one thing. Ive seen some of my plants have all cloudy Trichs at 4 weeks, even though a clone from the same plant, with buds of similar size were all clear. Each plant can be slightly different not just each grow,

I got a plant that's doing the same, throwing nanners and getting some seeds and shit, but most of the buds are intact. It just started last week, and I'll be chopping on the 17th, so it's all good.

Well I was told it's going for another 4 weeks... 21 total weeks of flower.... Kid doesn't know how to take constructive criticism.

Cut the lighting time and push the lights further back.

I grew a banana kush once that had clear trichromes up till I fed her molasses. She came around and began maturing fine.

He's following the fox farm schedule. Using tiger bloom and all that. He said feeding every other 2 days.... We aren't actually on speaking terms anymore. He gets mad when I try to help him out. I'm more curious on what's going on with the plant then helping him out anymore...

I was wondering about how much N he's feeding this far in.
Might have a light leak too.

Wow 17 weeks in flower for a sour diesel seems a little to long. They're usually at their peak in 10-12 weeks.
