16 oz cup grow contest?

unfortunatly these buds are all pretty small and not too too dense. Combine that with temps in my closet in the 80's and RH under 20% and I present you with dry buds in 2 days.

Im considering micro growing now. Ive found the strain I want to grow for the next few years and have 2 mothers for now. Te thing is is that its my first SOG grow and things couldnt be worse. This strain doesnt grow roots and the stem is long and skinny. Acctually, now that I think of it, All my plants in flower, 2 strains are going through some kind of root stunting. 2 big retired mothers are making really small budsites.

I go from rooted clone to its permanent 6" square container. Veg under 4 tube t5 fixture for 2 weeks, move under 400 MH for 2 weeks then into the bloom room under 1000 HPS.

So by the time thier done vegging they are about 18 - 24 inches tall. I put them under and by harvest I only get an eighth dry. And the plants look pathetic. Supertiny stem and absolutely no roots. These plants could have been easily grown in a 16 oz cup. Why would they stay so small? And the bottom 3rd of the plant is just stem and worthless buds so they come off at week 2 so the plant can focus more on upper plant growth at the canopy.

Ive done the research and am currently putting togeather some experimental runs on some other plants. Im all organic right now, but I'll grow one plant with fox farm and see what that does.

the roots need really loose soil like tons of perlite or sand something they can push through easily drbud revegges his 16oz potted plants and rebuds them three times before they stop rooting . the plant will stay around the size of the container if you want big buds you need alot of dirt or alot of smaller buds from small pots but you cant get big plants in small pots 6"x6" is very small maybe 1/2 gallon most big plants are in pots 10 times that size!

Dude, did you see the picture of the plant out of its container? Thats 4 days before harvest! They dont grow roots at all and the stem grows very skinny. No bulky stem, no big buds. Im just hoping your right about the soil. I already went out and bought some pure earth organic soil and am cutting that 1/3 light warrior and 1/3 ocean forrest and will be feeding them regular doses of beneficials. It just seems so far, if Im even growing it right, that this is a very resinous but very low yielding plant. Yet these smaller symptoms must stem (npi) from a bigger problem that has maby been overlooked or something. How to you veg a clone for a month just to get an eighth? That sounds like an underproducer.

mix all those goodies then add 50% perlite and a lil sand !! nice and fluffy and the sand helps keep it from getting hard! plants dry out faster like this which is good for root growth ,when roots are dry they can breath so they need to drink then breathe drink then breathe ...... if wet all the time they get no air and cant grow thats why you didnt get a good rootball and a fat stem:( that soil was moist the whole grow i would bet?? think about hydro the pumps shut down to let the roots suck up air so unless the soil can let air flow :(

stick a straw as far as you can into the soil and blow into it you should be able to blow easily if you cant then neither can the plant ya know ?

hope this rant helps someone:(

i hate typing..:wall:

What causes the roots to not over grow the cup? Why would the stem only get so large and produce so much bud?

Just asking because Im growing in 6" containers (veg) with a 400MH and my plant stems never seem to get fat. And the leaves dont get that big. I just put a brandnew 400MH in there and they grow significantly each day but I dont see the fat stems or bigger leaves. I dont have a fan either but in my opinion that shouldnt matter. Ive grown out many plants that have fat stems without a fan. Of course thier is a fan exchanging air but nothing causing the plants to sway.

how much light they under? I put mine in a tent with 1000HPS. Fucking thing was toxic and the plants would not grow because it was off gassing. I fucked with it for almost 8 months, tried several strains and soil mixtures and 3 different organic formulas. I would veg a plant to 18 inches and induce it and would yeild 3-4 grams dry a plant, although I would get more counting all the buds I threw into the hash pile. But it was fucking rediculous. SoIm getting the new tent tomorrow or monday. Finally can quit fucking around and get back on track. I'll have pics a little later.

what was the temp inside the tent ? i pulled more with 400w, i have good airflow and temps... not a tent either

so much controversy in this matter about rootbound, and how much B.S. it is. I have clones taken this week, when they root, I will put them in cups, and grow them beside the same clones, transplanted twice, into 2 gallon pots. Obviously the ones in the bigger pots will be bigger, because they will fill out theyre container, but the small cup will be healthy and prosperous, just smaller.

Temps were always in the high 70's to low 80's with lights on.

And 3-4 grams dry off of a 2 foot plant is just rediculous with my set up. Smone could do better with flourescents. However everythings gonna change as soon as I get my flowering area in check.
No more toxic tent.:joint:
