Hello,

I was wondering, would a 150 watt HPS be enough to flower 4-5 plants? I also have a 50 watt LED full spectrum(red + blue LEDs) grow panel for supplemental lighting. I've had a one person tell me that it was not enough, but I'd like a second opinon. Any help would be greately appreciated. :):joint:

What matters about the light? Is it the lumens? The sun gives off about 10,000 lumens on a summer day and the 150 watt HPS gives off about 16,000 lumens. So you guys don't think that the 150 HPS and the 50 watt LED light will work?

The sun gives off 10000 lumens per square foot on a summers day. So 4-5 full grown plants which cover say 6 sq ft minimum will receive all of 16000/6=2666 lumens per sq ft. It will be OK, but not ideal. It would probably be smarter to limit yourself to 3 plants and get higher yields. You will get a fair yield with the 150 though on 4 plants. The smaller the space they are put in, the more light is focused on the plants the higher lumen per sq ft ratio is.

Fair yield as in atleast an ounce from a short indica strain? Or what about a Lowryder?

I am going to give this a try and I'll keep you guys posted on how it comes out. I should be getting seeds some time soon.

it depens on how big your grow room is for good growth and buding your plants need about 2000 to 3000 of lumes per sq ft.

i've read a grow guide that said 3000 lumens per plant was perfect but ive also read guides the said 100 watts per plant, but growing under the sun, which is 10,000 lumens per square foot grows a plant thats strong but not as potent. so i believe four plants grown under what you have will yield more and be more potent than that grown outside, but you will have weaker stems and increased risk of mold and pests. If the plants are larger than three foot, then you should be able to get an ounce per plant.
