Well I am being discreet... the place I use this comp as well as this laptop aren't mine... there are tons of wind turbines in the area so it's not like one could spot mine easily... they sold 20 - 40 or those turbines at the show... it's all farmers round here... but message received i've got enough info from you guys and i appreciate it...
how do i d/l my account and this thread? also didn't realize this site was for hobbyist and medical growers...
dude, they are jealous and trippin'. don't go anywhere. i wanna watch.:mrgreen:

That turbine isn't anything crazy. It would basically run 3 x 1000w and maybe 1 x 400w lights in real time if it was going at it's maximum output. It wouldn't run those lights in practice. If we take the 1050-1100 watts that one 1000w light uses for example. For that 12 hours that it's on, we use 12.6 - 13.2 kWh. The windmill's theoretical maximum production is 88.8 kWh. In practice it will probably be less than half of that ( I don't know the average wind speed in the area or the exact windmill). If we assume that it produces 40 kWH, that means that you can run maybe 3 x 1000 lights on it's power production on average.

To run 7x1000w 12 hours a day on solar, I'd need greater than 253 80w solar panels at my latitude. That's greater than 1734sq ft of roof pointing due South. At any rate, that that's a 20240w array. That 3500 watt solar array isn't really even putting a dent in a commercial grow's power consumption.

i dont think anyone is trippin or jealous posting revealing personal information and saying that you are going to do a commercial grow op is not a smart thing to do period.

fdd you live in a state where medical mj is legal and they have a shit ton more to worry about than your bushes in the back yard. you know there are hundreds of thousands of plants a few hundred miles north of you so why would they fuck with you? the dea has their hands full over here

he on the otherhand lives in the midwest where they crackdown on that shit and actively hunt it down. ya nobody knew that they sold a bunch of those turbines and who knows how many are on his road but i can assure you there are way more ppl in cali with bushes on their land like yours than there are farmers with wind turbines and putting up similar buildings.

I wanna see this grow happen to no doubt i think it is quite an undertaking that everyone would appreciate watching but I dont wanna see a fellow grower go down in flames by crossing the line and giving some dea agent or bored cop in the midwest too much information..

its not as comfy in other states where you got the feds and the locals lookin for ya and the penalties are harsher... just my .02

Any green power source, wind, solar, wouldnt be hooked up to any lights directly, that wouldnt work, it would be wired to the grid, if your turbine/solar panels are producing more power than you are using you can literally watch the meter run backwards, Normally it will just offset the power usage and the meter just wont be so high every month, its much harder to notice large changes in power usage because the turbine itself will have good days and bad days, basically in the end you get a cheaper powerbill and you get to feel like your doing something good for the environment.

It will definitely make a noticeable difference because your lights run 12 hours a day, the solar panels can be getting light more that 12 hours, and wind turbines are offsetting your power 24/7 as long as theres some wind, and when they get going they produce a lot of power!

Yeah. I understand how a grid tie system works. I'm just talking about how little energy these auxilary green power sources really create compared to the power draw for a commercial grow operation.

This guy does not have a grid tie system. He previously stated his solar panels are connected to batteries. He needs to know that realistically, his grow operation isn't going to run off of his battery supply and that he'll need to use a grid tie system.

As for the wind generator, you can calculate how much power that's going to produce for you on average. Look up the average wind speed for your area--it'll be based on like greater than 50 years of data probably. The turbine should be rated for output at a speed. You can then estimate by scaling appropriately. I'm not sure the the turbine's output increases linearly with speed though. You just need to remember that running at or above the threshold where it generates at maximum capacity it's generating 3700watts. Usually it's producing less than that. You must remember that it feeds power out the same way your lights draw it: watts x time.

I'm not saying that green power is a bad idea; I'm saying don't expect to run a commercial grow operation for free off of your own green energy without doing something drastic.

get a bunch of lemons and make batteries from them to run your lights...lmfao thats my green solution...ha ha ha

I dont think anyone is expecting to run a commercial grow for free off solar, wind, and batteries, thats just ridiculous. The cost of the batteries required would be an insane waste of money, the actual power being offset by wind and solar over time, compared to the time everything is running. The power bill will be GREATLY reduced, it will probably be one of the best long term investments you can make over time just because of the fact that wind and solar will provide some fluctuations on your bill from month to month that can EASILY be explained Legally!~

Not to mention the fact that solar panels and wind turbines usually take up minimal space that was not being used anyway. So in the long run adding another turbine or 2 and some more panels and your powerbill could be lower while growing than it is now.

I donno why you are trying to be a smart ass about it I was simply making my post to try and make him aware of the kind of information he was getting out. whether I am being paranoid or overprotective whatever it has kept me safe so far (knock on wood). If I was releasing too much info I would want someone to bring it to my attention. The facts are that there are lots of people in jail who made these kind of stupid mistakes, maybe not necessarily by posting on an internet forum but by giving out too much info to other people and not covering their asses. realisticly speaking we dont know who looks at this forums and if it is johnny law who knows what kind of tools they have at their disposal. If someone starts talking about a large scale grow op they could take it down if they tried. That is the truth.

And im not saying you live in candy land fdd. i fully understand that there are people everywhere on the planet including cali that would love to get their hands on your address and pay you a visit. my point is that i would MUCH rather have some punks try to steal my shit than the laws come visit because at least with punks you can do something about it. if someone came out on your land you could easily make them disappear and have some fertilizer under your kids for next year. Not an option when you have the feds at your door.

and like i said before i think everyone would love to see this pan out I know I would but i dont wanna see it at the cost of another stoner going to jail.

be smart and be safe.

Okay to start off with i'm being very safe... 3 people know about this Myself my business partner and the buyer. When I say commercial i'm not saying i'm gonna grow 100 pounds of dope... sorry if that was unclear it's not that big of a space and this is my hobby... just a hobby i plan on making some money off of... But your right I shouldn't have given out as much information as I did so how do i delete this thread and my account?

I would contact an admin to remove the info, im sure they would be happy to do it for you. Everyone is happy to help and loves to hear about the progress! But we are just saying be careful, I would imagine there are some kind of permits required to build the building, not many people are putting up wind turbines and solar panels. I wouldnt be worried about the average joe, but any professional, or maybe even some random guy in your area might know more than you think, Anything is possible, just be careful.

Good luck man.

As for the energy it's been taken care of... Everyone is correct about what they said for the most power however renewable energy purchases i have made won't be grid connected they'll be off of a battery back-up system. As for the individual who made the comment about needing all the batteries I in fact don't need that many enough to hold the juice + a little extra... for example say I have a 3.7K turbine well continuous that produces 1.9K plus the panels i'll need about 4Kw worth of deep batteries. The rest of the power will come from running a gennie to fill up those batteries... for example the gennie will run for 15 mins and gimme enough juice in the batteries for an hour. Plus it will be powering the lights for the 15 mins. I know this is kinda seems like it may not make sense but it works.... As for the size of the grow it's going to be ran off of 8 600w bulbs 2 in each of the octagons i've started to build. But yah thats all the info for now from now i'm not going to post anything else till the grow has started... I've gleaned all the information I have needed from these forums except for a little bit more i need to learn about intake and exhausts as well as odor control but i'll get that on my own I think...

SO HOW DO I DELETE THE THREAD AND THIS ACCOUNT?

Thats actually a great idea, the backup generator would make it perfect!!

Good luck, you might need to do a little looking to find an admin to PM, or else make a new thread asking for an admin or something, Im not sure if you can delete your account on your own.

Well I would imagine it would deter any future people from stumbling across it, the fact that its becoming such a big thread brings that much more attention.

Maybe some thorough editing might be the best option?

Well I see that potroast a Staff member of this site has stumbled upon this forum... if you could please delete all posts previous to this one... or at a minimum please d/l my posts it would be greatly appreciated. And a million gazillion thankyous to all the people out there who have helped get the questions answered that I had. It's helped me out so much. Your a giant brain trust of buds and while everyone has their own way of doing things it has been very easy for me to take all the advice and then take that and do my own research to come up with conclusions... that's because of all of you guys so yah thanks again and I will keep this forum going... maybe just keep the first post from me? thanks again

And like bc said it will keep people from stumbling across it and all the info that i shouldn'tve posted will be gone.
