Good thing there is no lack of brain dead idiots to keep FEDS busy.

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120807/METRO01/208070346/1409/metro/6-charged-after-marijuana-raids

I will type up the highlight plays for you.

An employee told the undercover agents that the west wing of the facility was rented by "Andy," who occupied about 40,000 square feet and had "installed extensive security to protect his large marijuana grow operation," according to the complaint.

Receipts for cash payments made by Parker to the center were found in the leasing office, according to documents.

In April, the DEA recovered processed marijuana, grow equipment and a file folder labeled "A&T Construction" that contained documents with Parker's name on them at a garage on 22nd Street.
The same day, 164 marijuana plants, processed marijuana and guns were seized at Robert McIntosh's home in Dearborn Heights.

Bad luck can definitely happen, and even a very security minded grower can take a pinch once and a while, but this is over the top sloppy. Most likely over 100 people knew what this crew was doing and they had months to shut down.

You can not really justify a warehouse grow when houses are only 10k in Detroit. They could have had 10 houses with 72 plants each and been legal enough.

Yeah I don't get the warehouse thing, get a few houses or something because you also have a risk of break ins, and if they do at least you don't lose everything.

Last I checked you can even get houses in detroit for less then 10K....and most of those neighborhoods I don't think the cops would even get out of their car right?

You can get a house in Detroit for $500.00.

The Russel Industrial Center is home to alot of artists and small business owners. They rent out anywhere from small to huge (See above) spaces.

What's interesting is, I wonder if the owner worked out where he could pay his own utility bills. My friends used to live in a very large space there and electricity was included.

I don't think growing in one of the thousands of industrial buildings is stupid. People have been doing it in Detroit for decades. I remember this raid, and I thought they were selling the meds right there at that fucked-up-ass flea market, bazaar. I would choose Detroit over Bloomfield Hills. I remember them just busting a bunch of coneys stealing electric. DTE is a multi-fucked company that people have abused for decades. I bet some of their employees are growing for free in the city.

With warehouse grows you have to deal with fire marshals, building inspectors and if you do not own the building, landlords and the landlords insurance people on occasion. You can not even be up and running for more then one year with out taking everthing down for a couple of weeks. In CA doing a warehouse is cost effective, in Detroit I don't know.

These guys where telling random strangers/cops about 40k sq ft grow rooms. It is mind boggling. The case is already federal so they have no chance of getting off on some medical technicality. At least they will not be idiots any longer after thinking about their mistakes for 5 years in fed.

People are getting braver and braver. I found out about 2 big warehouse grows in Ann Arbor, just by picking up on things on the outside of the buidings that didn't make sense. Like brand new blinds in windows, manicured flower beds, and no business sign on the building or anything that would say a business is located here. LOL, I know the owner of the buildings, and just said I think this is going on, and yup....one is 20,000 sq/ft and the other is 10,000 sq/ft. All grow, nothing in them but. Eveyone will go to prison when they get busted, it's a conspiricy from the grower to the owners. Stupid. Just a matter of time till it all comes crashing down.

I spotted what looks to be a good sized operation across from a high school in Metro Detroit.
3 chillers on each side of the home, 6 in all visible from the main road.
Makes you wonder what some people thinking.

I bet those chillers show up on craigs list when the brothers steal them from the grow! Those things need to be fenced in with a Pitt protecting them in the D.
