14 day old plant

im guessing they are flood lights. because they get bigger towards the top and wider. so, i should get a bag of organic soil? the water is soft, im using spring water. And what wattage bulb would you recommend. i have lamps, with wire necks that are extendable, just. what watt would work best. would two 100w cfls work?

I think it's growing just fine. You said it was 14 days since planting. Most people go by when they break soil. So in the pic they were probably more like 10 days old. Since you are new to growing use this as a learning experience. You will make mistakes. No doubt about it, but you can still end up with awesome results. Cannabis is very resilient. CFL's are much better than those grow lights in my opinion and not too expensive to get a setup going. Got any pics of your lights and setup?

i wouldnt go under 80w for vegging or under 200-300w for flowering, ideally alot more though. you could use lots of little lights(12 26w and completly surround the plant or get less larger bulbs(6-8 42w). or get 3-4 42w's over top and 6-8 26w for side lighting.

since my plant is only in the seedling stage right now, would two 42 watt bulbs be too much? i would like to buy them rigt now. and get it out of the way. and if i have 2 42 watt bulbs. i understand it wouldnt be the best, but would that sustain veg as well?

sure, thats actually what i meant, lol, in my mind their is really only 2 stages, vegging and flowering. 2 42w is good for vegging. Is your last question actually supposed to be
"if i have 2 42 watt bulbs. i understand it wouldnt be the best, but would that sustain Flowering as well?" ?

I use 4, 26w CFL's and have great results so far in the veg stage. I've flowered under 6, 26w CFL's in the past and it came out great. I'm pretty sure 3 would be enough if you keep the plant small and have good light dispersion. Also, get creative and make some sort of reflective hood to keep as much light directed at her as possible. You can get a reflective blanket from wal-mart for a couple bucks. Even cardboard would be fine to start off with as the frame. Do a search for ghetto grow box. You'll probably get a bunch of great ideas.

One other thing. Do you have to worry about odor? If you do then you need to come up with a plan fast. She may start stinking bad any day now. My current grow became pungently sweet smelling after 2 weeks of growth. If you can get it ona gel works great. I just got it last night and it completely took care of my odor problems. I also have a carbon filter though.

thank you for the guidance bro, ill get two 42watts tonight. hook them up and see how it works over the next week. and yeah, i did mean flowering. sorry for the confusion.

Only two weeks in, and the plant starts to give off an odor. thanks for the heads up. but i dont have to worry about anyone smelling it lol. and i love marijuana anyway, so i would be perfectly content with the smell. but 2 weeks in?

This is my Sour Diesel baby that I have been vegging for two weeks under a 400W metal halide bulb. Just started my first grow.

Im sorry man but the halid bulbs arent good for me. Too expensive and energy consuming. But without a doubt undebatable best overall sucess and, outcome yeild

im using a 65 watt now, and two 13 watt cfls. the 13 watt cfls dont seem to be doing hardly anything, but the 65 watt seems to be doing awesome with the plants.

The lower the watt the better lumens you get thats what you want i have two 13watt they work awesome
Actually the lower the wattage the lower the lumens. It may have a better ratio but there will be less. I'd only go with 2, 13w CFL's if I was doing a computer tower grow or starting seeds under 12/12. Otherwise it is just way too little light to grow a decent sized plant. How big of a plant is yours right now? Have you flowered under this amount of light?

I wouldnt even leave a seedling under 2 13w bulbs, you'd be wasting your time imo. 26w is the smallest bulb you should use and overall has the highest lumens to watt average, but like the guy above said that doesnt mean they are always the best to use. lol. Something i have learned though, especially when using higher watt cfls......keep the lights as close to possible early, but when the plant gets like 4-5 nodes it helps to pull the light away from the plant some (2-3 inches away), the leaves will get larger so they have more surface area to absorb light. then when you add more lights you'll have more leaf surface absorbing more energy. instead of alot of light on less leaf surface.
