12x12ft Room To Grow In!!SUGGESTIONS!?

I just purchased a house and am woundering what type of set up to go with using a room 12x12 feet. Money is not a huge problem I have two grand to start. I have grown flourescent before organically; just light water and soil. It was amazing taste/quality, and a pretty nice yield. Should I grow as many as I can in 5-7gallon with just soil and as many flouros as i can cram in a 12x12 area? I love the no electricity spike and no fire risk with the flouros, and how cheap they are to. But if anyone has a good set up thats different for 2 g's tell me please!!!

i'm not super experienced but you need to definatley use hps lamps, you will not be dissapointed... i would think

although Im a cheap bastard(have 3 kids) so I just use 1k hps for both veg and flowering and still have great results:hump:

Thanks I'm wondering if anyone can tell me weather is should use the whole 12x12 space or make it smaller? I can have veggers elsewhere; this 12x12 can be dedicated to flowering women only. Probably want to do a SOG? what strain does anyone suggest as far as 12x12 for max yield, and what lights for 12x12? should i have flouros giving the under growth light and hps on top? THANKS A TON!!!! i WILL put pics on as soon as you keep giving suggestions. IT WILL BE OUR COMMUNITY GROW!!!! :o):blsmoke:

Welcome to the forum PGG. The MH/HPS system is definately the way to go; it'll make your yields double. Also, start off with the Advanced Nutrients ferts and chemicals; they can't be beat. I think if you watch your money you can do a nice grow room that size for 2k. Best of luck.

Oh, I envy you, sir. You could produce a tonne of green with that place, but I am concerned you haven't thought this through... Do you have any idea how many lights you would need to cover 144 square feet? For a conservative guess you would need 108 24" fluorescent bulbs. A couple of 600w HPS would do a much better job. I would try Al B Fucts SOG system ("Harvest every 2 Weeks") if I were you. Anyway, good luck.

welcome to the forum. Plasma has been doing some reading. I have a room thats about the same amount of space, so I'll try to jump in here for a minute. Start with the Physical Plant. To run a 12'x12' rooom, you will want to make sure you have enough power available to the room. You will want to have water lines in the room, and drains. And you will want to have an air handling system. If you can do a lot of this type of work yourself then you have a good start @ $2000.00 if you are going to use the whole room. If you share some of the ideas you have it will help. You mentioned soil and 5-7 gallon pots and you could do that. You would be able to get more yield using hydro methods. Read AL B Fucts post on how to get a harvest every two weeks. His room is smaller then that, and he harvest about a pound every two weeks. Ignore all the bullshit about lights and read to the end. It may give you some ideas we can talk about.
For lights I will recommend checking out the t-5 lighting. Videoman 40 has a grow journal he posted some time ago using them, may want to take a look at that also. I have two of them in place now and I like what I see. VV

I looked for this user but could not find him. I'd really love to learn how to get this sort of yield!!

A's on member list, I think it might be page 9. If I knew how to link I'd give you one. Maybe I'll just go bump it on top again. VV

Hey mate.. I would get 1000hps and use the SOLARMAX1 buld which is a 400mh and a 600hps in the same bulb.... use it through veg and flower.. yhese bulbs cost $175.00 but are the very best.. and you save money as you only need you 1000hps... for that size room I would get 4 of those going... there goes your 2 grand but you will get it all back and more first harvest.

here is something you might want to consider
when you buy a ballast get one that will run both MH and HPS
a little more on the front ens expence but i think you will find out in the long run well worth it
Good luck and keep us posted :joint:

for a 12x12... assume you want to be able to walk around the perimeter... so the actual floor space used for pots would only be like 10x10... for this (2) 1000w HPS bulbs on a 'sun circle' type light mover would be sufficient. since ur already familiar with flouros, then you know that they will suffice for seed/clone/vegatative growth until plants are about a foot tall... so use another room for about (9-12) 4 ft 2 bulb flourescent fixtures.

You've also enough mula to go with (4) 600w HPS instead of the 1000's. These could then be stationary, so you'd save on the light mover (not needing it) and have an easier time of venting the hoods. Also you'd be using another 400w of juice and the multiple points of light would make up for the less penetration of 600 vs. 1000. (In the flower room.) (If ur unconcerned about electrical use then you could go with 4 stationary 1000's.)

i'd seal off a veg/ clone/ mother room.. i'd make it about 6'x4' in the corner... i'd put a bunch of floro's in this space to support the smaller plants, mothers, and fresh clones.. i'd then use the rest of the space left over by the room(6'x4')LxW to build a drying/ storage area.. with some lines for drying and some shelves for tools, nutes, bulbs, and other materials that you may need.. that leaves you with 8'x12' flowering room.. use 3-4 stationary 600watt hps lights. they should cover that amout of area great.. paint the walls flat white or mylar them.. leave about 1ft of room around the plants for inspection purposes.. if in soil, for ease of watering by hand use a long water wand hooked up to a hose and sub pump in a res. that would save you money instead of buying a watering system..

correct me if i'm wrong... but 'stadium' growing (nice link) seems like a good thing if you have limited floor space... but this guy doesn't really have limited floor space. he could use (4) 1000w HPS in that space w/o really wasting the lumens... and his only real limitation after that would be high electrical consumption.
