I have a nice 600w light, nice tent, great soil and nutes. 12/12 from seed does not do much for me. I have done it several times but always end up with < 1ft plant, 1 smelly beautiful bud that I can roll up in one blunt if need be. If ur growing under ur bed I could see it as a point but if u have any room at all I wouldn't do it. I see ppl posting crazy shit all the time but it just doesn't work for me
I can dig what you're saying. The BW and KK I planted are about a foot and started flowering. But the WR X M and the OG13? Like they vegged a month (I usually veg a photo for 2 solid months).

I've got mine (outdoor) in 5 gal., they ended up being about 4 feet tall, not counting the pot (like we're supposed to measure :) ), and they still have plenty of room.
One is an Indica-ish, and the other is a more Sativa-ish, so I think 3 would be fine.
Watch for Scrog to see if he chimes in, I've found his comments and views to be helpful.
Note:
Last night, I pulled the top 6" or so off my Indica, and got 18.3g wet, but weighing tonight, I have already lost 10.1g due to water weight.
I still have about as much to pull once it fills in a little and ripens, but my Sativa will have lots more buds, but looks like it's going to be a lot fluffier.
Cool. How many do you think could fit under one 1000W? I know the footprint is 5x5, but would putting them all right next to each other be way too crowded? If the planters are 8" you could fit about 49 in a 5x5 area. If you did something like that what do you think a realistic yield could be? It seems like there's a lot of variation for some people. I'm on my first grow and trying to plan my next. Just trying to figure options to see how much each plant can yield, and how much you could realistically grow. I don't need quite so much, so I don't want to overgrow either.

49? Wow. I use 3 gallon units and can fit 9 fairly well using an "umbrella" parabolic reflector. 9 that grow into enough vegetation it requires training or SCROG.

Add that I use side lighting with CFL as they get larger and more dense.

Well, you want to assume they will grow beyond the footprint of the pot, and you will also want room to walk around, so I would guess 4 plants comfortably, 5 or 6 if you stuff them in.(not advised)
I would go 4 max if it was me.
