Hello all !

I am transforming a 12 by 16 ft shed into my grow room. I have done tons of research and i am sure there is tons more to come but I am finally ready to get the ball rolling. I pretty much have my design ready but am very curious how other's might compare. I know there are many different variables that will affect the crop but using the same exact area and a multi-pot ebb and flow system how will you go from the ground up to build.

How many plants will you use, pot size, nutrients, lighting, AC btu, type of grow method, general type of strain, supplement florescent or cfl for underside of plant, vented lighting or open, C02, enclosed room or vented, and whatever else i am sure i missed lol....

All opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated !

My flower room is the same size and I run 48 plants scrogged in 3 gallon smart pots in coco top feed. I am switching from hps to cob leds. The mini split that is in the room is 24k I only ran 4k of hps lighting open hoods on light rails. It was cheaper to get the light rails than get a 48k mini split. In a sealed room running co2. The only supplemental lighting I use is uvb the last 2 weeks of flower. I like blue planet nutrients have been using them over 2 years.

I was going to go with (6)1000k until I calculated the electricity bill and then started reading up on 630 watt CMH for vegging and flowering... what kind of yield did you get out of those 48 scrogs

I run perpetual so i harvest 24 a month and I will get 3-4 lbs for 24 plants depending on the strain
I know what you mean about the electricity bill one reason I am switching to cob leds. Right now I have to have 70a just to turn the lights on and after the leds are up the flower room and veg will all take less than 40a and will have over 7k watts of cob led

I've ran across the LEDs doing my research but usually dont spend much time reading them because of their high prices LOL by the way what type of unit are you looking at what would be the equivalent a thousand watt HPS or better as far as quantity and quality etc

I am Diy cob led I will replace 4k hps with 6k cobs i should average 1.0-1.2 gpw right now with hps i will get .6-.75 so an increase of yield and less electric over 30a difference less ac needed it doesnt take long to get your money back. You can replace a 4'x4' area of cob led for less than $500 If your starting from scratch its not that much more than hps that doesnt include the ac needed for hps

I have 2 tanks each one will last about a month I pay less than $10 to refill a tank. I did think about plumbing gas out to the garage but its 80 feet and was going to cost $1000 Have other things I need to get done first.

Best way to get it depends on your room and If gas is available. What is the budget like? several factors play into it.

first thing first
your area ........for this to work u need to seal your shed
spray foam insulation is the most cost effective ......but before u do that u need to wire up the area and make the holes for the mini split to control the temps

the shell goes up .....then u wire and plumb it out ........if u are going to have water inside u need a trench digger that will get at least 2 feet into the soil so the pipes do not freeze (18 inches is minimal)
the next part is the door that needs to be sealed too

i am going a 900sqft building so my door is huge i was going to do a floating wall ......when i need to i can unlatch it and move so have full access to move out big plants to fields

then it is simple just a standard lay out
tanks would work for a smaller area .......u really should look into a burner
