Well its Day 27 for the 12/12 Vertigo and she is still going for it, I will be running at least 3-4 of the Auto Vertigo in next grow and again 12/12 vs 24/0 or 8/6(not decided on this yet) the 12/12 Auto Bubblegum has started Flowering.. I thought I could see pistils yesterday and today I'm sure. The 24/0 Bubblegum is still going for it, more bushy than in height(?) idk? This being far from over and just the 1st stage in what will probably see Me running a few different Autos under 12/12 for comparison more than anything.. I would like to(will) find a Sativa dom Auto and see how they perform under 12/12.. even though this is not My main grow(that's the ScroG and BBK Autos) this is by far the most interesting to me, others are just for smoking... this is Fun!!

Oops nearly forgot I gave them all a 500ml of Water Today, the 24/0 Bubblegum drinks very well, but I noticed the 12/12 take a lot longer before they feel anything like "Light" again.. have made notes on all little signs and such, I will inc Height Measurements and Leaf Sets and any other Info.. obviously yield(?) LoL wonder what each will yield..My bets are on the Vertigo being the best, but I could be proved wrong and the 24/0 Bubblegum could whup it.. we shall see

atb, and thanks for stopping by. ...

Small Update:

Just a quickie, it's Lights On time in my main grow and lights off for the Autos so just before Lights Off I measured the 12/12 vs 24/0 Autos(of which both the Bubblegum have started Flowering!!) anyhoos here's the measurements...

12/12 Bubblegum - 18cm

24/0 Bubblegum - 24cm

12/12 Vertigo - 32cm(still no pistils)

excellent observation! the 12/12 will be lighter drinkers because they have less heat stress (evaporation, perspiration, etc) leading to a greater amount of water being retained in the plant and pot, they are also growing at a slower rate (stretch does not equate to growth, more internodes do)

The thing I find interesting is that the 24 hour plant seems to be flowering much quicker than the other 2, lending to my theory that you cannot "trick" an auto into flowering early by dropping the light cycle since they go off of age more light = more potential for growth.

The guy who got me started told me 24 hour light during veg. He is in his third decade of growing and has never touched a computer. After I got going, I then read of the other common options and asked him if he ever went 18/6 or 20/4 and his response was "Why would I want to take away grow time?" :). That said I am flexible and have had success with alll. Personnally like the 20/4 and love opening the door in the dark and seeing them in droopy sleep.

I think it depends on how prevalent the ruderallis is in the strain. Imo.
what does that even mean?(not being a dick i seriously want to hear your opinion)

its not an opinion its basically fact. look at determinate tomatos they are basically tomato autoflowers lol

I was high and wanted to input in the convo' lol, what I meant was, Autoflowers flower dependent on age that AGE is dependent on its parents lineage. Some strains of autoflower might carry dominance from its photo period parent, those are the ones that need short-day to initiate flowering. A 'true' autoflower is made by using two true homozygous recessive parents, but most strains have heavy sativa/indica influence mixed in.

Thanks for comments Guys, I have done 24/0 and with Autos and Photoperiod and for me I like to give my Gals a rest usually, I will be running this again, and it will be the Vertigo I will probably go with. tbh for me its about finding a Auto that does well under 12/12, but having said that I'm not just going to be concentrating on Autos... far from it, these Auto Grows are really a little side project and I will be doing a New Grow quite soon(couple of weeks) with Fems and again 12/12..

I think everybody has their favourite "Light" schedule and I'm by no means saying they are wrong or that's not the best way.. But for me I think Plants need a rest period..just mho.. but again others have Great success with 24/0 so I can't knock that.. other than my ScroG Grow all the rest of My grows will be 12/12 from here on in..

Thanks for popping in and all the comments.. its ALL Good!!

very interesting experiment you are conducting. +rep

I've been following along because this is an interesting subject of debate, as to the ideal amount hours/day of light.

IMHO...the 24/0 will be the biggest producer but there are a few factors that doesn't make this a fair comparison, such as the 12/12 doesn't get any HPS, which I believe is a superior light source to the CFL. Also running auto's at 12/12 is non-conventional, as many would say this alone will result in a smaller yield.

So at the end of the day, I'll still be undecided if 24/0 is worth while or not, but never the less I'm still enjoying your thread

cheers
