110V vs. 220V

In the past I have tried to buy all 220V ballasts because i heard that they are more efficient and cost less to run than their 110V counterparts. However, I recently ran across a great deal on some 110V lights and bought them even though everything's already wired for 220V power with NEMA 6-15 outlets. My question is, does anyone know of a way I can use these 110V systems on my 220V outlets? I have seen some converters/transformers to use when traveling overseas, but I'm not sure the price is worth it (I'm using 1000 Watt bulbs so I'd need a really expensive one) Is the power consumption much different in the 110V's anyway?
Also, the ballasts I have are sun system and I ran into a web site that says that some of their ballasts can run on either 110V or 220V power with only an additional 220V cord. Does anyone know if this is true or do this at home?
Any ideas about this would help, I'm just trying to get some ideas. Thanks everyone, let me know what you think. :peace:
