ights. no good close up pics of the pistols but here is my female. and my hermie. more pics of the female than the hermie. there in sepreate rooms so dont trip! how do they look?

how do u know if they r a female or hermie ur pictures dont show any signifcant differences except ones darker than the other

I got a 400 hps today too, once I get the socket for it, can I just run regular electric wires and plug it in like a normal light?

You need a ballast, but then you can plug it in a normal outlet.

You need a ballast, igniter, and cap. Unless you buy a prebuilt one from a hydro shop. I bought my HPS light setup from the local electrical store. It was about the same price as a complete light from HTG but i did not want the reflector from them and i did not have to pay for the shipping. So i basically saved about 50$ doing it this way. I went with a homemade cooltube. The ballast and other parts are really easy to wire together and get workin. You will love it when you get the hps up and running. I started my last grow with cfls and the difference is like night and day. Way more light penetration with the hps. Good luck and have fun.

Hi, it's okay to tuch the bulb, it's not like a haligen lamp. But you must rub it clean fter with soft fabric like what you would glean glasses with. You oily finger prints will burn onto the bulb and block the light.

Gordy, It doesn't matter what sort of socket a HPS or MH fits into you need a ballest, to regulate the electric current.

These are the basics, if you have never used HPS/MH lighting your best bet is to buy a compleat kit from the hydro store.
