10x15 grow room

Hi all, I’ve been given the opportunity in the near future to fill a room in a friends house while he’s away travelling, probs gonna get a year out of it.

the room is 3mx5.8m, I wanna use 3mx4.5m for flowering and leave the rest of the space for a big res and work bench.

I was thinking I’d use some 1000w lumatek/phototek de 400v hps hung at their highest for the meat and potatoes lol, I might addsome cmh in also.

im thinking about going with 1000w per 5x5 but I allways used one per 4x4 in the past, I was using single ended bulbs in cool tubes back then, but I’ve been assured by someone I know that 1000w de 400v is definitely enough for a 5x5.

so if this is the case I’ll be using 6 to cover the 10x15.

I’m currently in the process of pricing up the other equipment I’ll need and I’ll post more as I narrow my choices down for advice.

does anyone have any experience using these industrial type dehumidifiers

how do they work on say a g.a.s vpd controller ? I’ve never used a dehumy like this so have no idea.

Edit: before anyone says use leds, the budget just doesn’t allow for this, but I use them in my own grow and know they’re fantastic.

Thanks for any help guys all input is welcome and I appreciate it

Dehumidifiers all work about the same, I have a similarly specced home grade dehu. I just keep it set at 50 and exhaust the room outside. No problem maintaining granted I’m only using 32sqft of flowering space but there’s 65 gallons of soil in those pots and humidity is good doesn’t get higher than 65% in lights off.

I would step it up to at least a 70 90 be better it would run a lot less that 50 be cranking all night.

I too need a lot of soil I use about 100 gallons per 4x4 now in a fabric planter, I’m only really confident with living soil these days, but looking for a way to use less media so there’s less water, I hear grass roots pots do a good job but still water escapes from the top

Here's a not so legal delivery service

Street prices from a 'dealer' are lower.

Just curious but has this room been set up as s grow before? Curious about electrical capacities
No but I’m very handy I will be using a large capacity contactor board and can wire that myself, and have an electrician friend connect it up on the mains end

Can anyone confirm or deny that 1000w de is enough for a 5x5 ?
The double-ends are about 1700umol and degrade less (-10%) then stabilize. It will do but won't reach the raw output of LED. How are the temps there? You could throw 2 1000w high-K MH in between the square of each 4 HPS, in a vertical reflector hood so the light disperses rather to the sides. For some UVA/blue and colour-true sight

My room is 10x17. A 70 pint home grade dehu does fine and controls humidity quite easily.

if you are going with 6 1000W DE you will need around 24,000 BTU of AC minimum.

1000W DE is enough for a 5x5 especially in a multi fixture arrangement. But you need to hang them high 30-36" above your canopy. So if head space is limited it might not be the greatest option.

I won’t be using ac, I can scale up ventilation pretty well and deal with heat that way. There’s high ceilings so 3ft distance is fine

also I use fabric beds full of living soil, 125 gallon per 5x5 and water in the region of 6-7 gallons every 3 days, so that looks like 42 gallons of water every 3 days. I was actually thinking I might need 3 of these dehumys Haha

The fixtures apparently put 2100umol/s out but we all know that integrating sphere testing doesn’t translate to real world application. At 1700 per 5x5 I’m thinking I might throw in a couple of 630w de cmh into the room. I’ve used 10k with good results in a chequer board config before so using them as supplemental lighting along side the hps isn’t a bad idea, I did however prefer cmh + hps over 10k mh + hps. Thanks dude
