1000w vert room question.

I tried posting this in the vertical section but since this is a room design question it probably belongs here. Anyways,

~1000w hps for flower.
~4.5' ft max ceiling height ( hence the need for vertical )
~air cooled cooltube for bulb.
~strains are indica dominant and will be grown in 100% perlite hempy buckets. 3~5 gallon depending on number of plants.

My question is what size footprint should i use for the room ? I want to grow a single tier, so the plants will be topped once and vegged to about 32" or so (from bottom of bucket to tip of plant.)
I figure if i did 12 plants like this in a 6x6 room theyd fit. But might be wasting light with the plants spread out further from the bulb.
Or 8 plants surrounding the bulb in a 5x5 space. This would keep the girls closer to the bulb for best penetration.

Any thoughts on this ? Should i just go ahead and build the 6x6 room and move plants closer to bulb if need be ?
