1000W hps

Is there anybody who uses a 1000W hps setup? Is there anybody interested in a 1000W hps remote ballast (fully functional)?

I have seen these bulbs running and the heat is insane. It seems it would take quite the setup to operate something of this sort. Some task I would not like to take on. Not now anyway.

Comments? Suggestions? Interests?

Thats the only thing I use is 1000w.......

What of it though? Like, what do you have setup? Size of area, etc? The heat seems insane to me. How do you cope with that?

well my current setup looks a bit like this prolly like a 10X10 room....The only ventilation is a fan blowing through a window.........keeps the room about 80-85 during the day about 70-75 at night....

The second pic was a grow I did in a walk in shower using 1000w hps....again I did nothing more but had a fan blowing air in a open window....I don't have a reason to hide anything so my neighbors can prolly see my HPS shining through the window...but oh well..sorry for them....anyhow when it comes time to flower I need to make a few minor adjustments so they are not interupted by light when they suppose to be in the dark phase.

the walk in shower is about 4x4....which isnt recommended for 1000w but I had great results....I don't get elaborate with all the ducting and what not....just as long as you have good air flow coming in and something going out...which for me the window brings the air in and the open door is what keeps it flowing out....but like I said if you need to be discreet then you might have to get a little more technical

last time I got lil less than a lb with 8 plants I flowered at 10 inches....That was in the closet....I use a sunsystem hood and ballast.

i use two 1000w in a room that is 10x7 and it works good for me yes there is a heat problem but once you figure it out your laughing here check out my setup in my grow i used to use three 1000w in a room this size but i lived in a cooler climate

I sometimes use 1000 watt lights both mh and hps.I never really had any heat isse.My grow areas are usualy 8 x 8 x10.I use open hydrofarm hoods no glass or inlins reflector cooling fans and stay about 80 degrees F.I have 3 1000 watt hps and 3 1000 watt mh lights. I have now gone to smaller 600 watt digital switcahble ballast and keep couple extra 4000 watt hps and mh light in storage for back up or expiremental grows.The 600 watters I run 2 in tnadem for wider coverage with almost same lumnes as running 1000 watt light but uses 30% less energy and heat is almost non existant.I use these lights in 28-36 site grows on tandem light movers.I grab my 1000 watt ballast online for under $40 each whne I need 1.You sellin one?

I think I paid a few hundred for this whole setup and it came with a stupid batwing reflector, which is being used elsewhere I think. The ballast and bulb is worthless to me really. It's too big. I am not smart enough to devise something stealthy for such an outfit. However it would be great to see the results.

Suggestions? What is a ballast of the sort worth? It is the big boxy kind, white, with a handle on top. Sound familiar?

Thats the old magnetic ballast I have and get they weight a ton.I buy the white sand and hydrofarm used 1000 hps ballast with cord sets and mogul socket used for about $48 shipped.If you wann sell it Id offer $50 shipped Im in the US.Anyone need a 1000 watt mh I got 1 for $70 plus shipping

What would be the minimun size and requirements for a 1000W grow area? Not looking for mass production by any means, but would rather do one large grow than a bunch of little ones.
It has been a while since I have dabbled in the grows. I seem to be out-dated with what I thought I knew.

Suggestions? Olds, you have killer crop man. Killer. I looked through your journal and it is simply mind boggling.

what about a grow room how small can it be for a 1k

I run a 1000w HPS and 1000w MH in two different rooms that are 3'8" x 5"2" x 8' tall, I use a Magnum XXXL Reflector with 8" ducting and one 8" Max Can fan for cooling and have absolute no heat issues at all.
