1 week into my first grow...

Really stoked that I finally moved my plants from under the t5 into their official home. I used killer whale mychorrizae and am super impressed, the girls grew into their solo cups and were ready t be transplanted to 5 gallons in like 3 1/2 days. I've topped them already and they all have new growth.

A few questions, when do I top a 2nd time? Also why are some of my plants leaves twisting? I've looked in the growers bible for what the specific problem is but I can't figure it out. They are in ffof and have not been given any nutes, prolly wont for another week for fear of frying them since it's new soil.

My boyfriend did retardedly mist the plants before they went under 1000 w lights, so I think that's what the minor burns or from.

Lemme hear your opinion!

HMMM...Maybe nute burn, FFOF is notoriously hot for seedlings. If this were my grow I would cut back the amount of water I give them when watering. As for feeding, that soil has enough nutes to more than adequately supply freshly planted plants for a good 3-5 weeks depending on how much inert material (perlite) was added to your soil.

Good Luck and Great Grow!

Yeah she looks a bit crispy :fire:

But your first grow, expect problems. But learn from them ;)

Well, I always figured if the roots have not grown enough to justify wetting the whole medium, what's the point of doing it? Give them enough to wet the roots and let them dry a bit. This will force the roots to grow out and stronger as they search for moisture, but don't let them over dry...There is tons of great info on this and other forums, read, study, and learn. Take the 'advice' of other growers with a grain of salt. Listen to your gurlz, they will tell you what they need.

a week old? must be clones eh?
Yeah, purple Cadillac and grapefruit romulan. The GR is going to be a pain I think, they are super finicky and seem easily upsey., but I'm just gunna roll with it. They are from darkheart nursery though so at least i have good genetics on my side?

You dont need any runoff right now. You havent fed them yet. Runoff is to get rid of extra plant food. You need runoff in a soiless mix like coco or promix, but you probably want to hold onto the nutrients in the ffof so personally id go with no runoff for the first month.

When i started out. I stuck too foilar feeding, worked for me.
Plants are already crispy and your suggesting the most common way to burn plants to a rookie.......ok no. Op stick to soil feeding until the leaves are better, actually stick to soil feeding. Ive foliar fed once and it burned my plants.

That depends on what lights your running. Led/cfl/t5s ive used with foilar feeding and have not had 1 crispy chicken..

Thanks for clarifying this for me, and I have read about foliar feeding and will probably try it in the future but for now I'm really just focusing on getting the learning curve down this being my first shot in the dark.

Well shes running hps, i run DE hps, and it doesnt depend on the light as much as the fertilizer. Shes got small plants and little experience. I see so many posts on here from guys who burn their plants foliar feeding. Maybe if she was running organic tea, and she was familiar with useing it, maybe. I used a packet of foliar feed...with instructions! Mix one packet to one gallon. So i used four packets for four gallons. Then i sprayed just like they told me to. Dim lights, spray, when dry resume lights. Burnt.

Smart girl. I hope you and the boyf do well. Simple is usually better, and you wont notice whats changing if anything unless you only make small changes to the nutrient program each grow. One thing, well two things i totally reccomend, first is calmag. Just get it. Ffof has crushed oyster shell for cal and lime for mag, but later in the grow youl probably want some. Also, a ppm meter. Its so important. And running a grow without one is like a carpenter without a tape measure.

But what about the wavy leaves?? Also all the new growth doesn't look burnt at all so that's a good sign right?
Ya your doing fine. Wavy leaves can happen because the soils rich. Now the plants are going to need that rich soil and thell start feeding heavy. Read riu, thatll help. Also if you have any questions just type @Alienwidow and ask, theres a lot of conflicting info out there. Dont forget to have fun.

Whatever makes you feel like you have won the internet ;)

Peace out internet gladiators :peace:
Its all about sound advice and solving problems efficiently. I keep my eye on guys giving bad advice because sometimes people really listen to bad advice and kill their plants. I try to grow a stronger riu community. See, read what happened when you left this thread for example.......https://www.rollitup.org/t/is-this-plant-ok.889954/#post-12065806
