What if the edges of your fan leaves get burnt by your cfls? Should you move them or does it really matter? Should I just cut the fan leaves?

I have been using nutes everytime I water my plants. The nutrients are already added to 1G of water. But what if I wanted to also water with molasses? Could I mix molasses and nutrients into 1G of water and feed my plants?

The rule is 50 watts per square foot. Is that for all types of light? So wether I have 50 watts of cfl per square foot, or 50 watts of hps per square foot, growth wont be that much difference? Or do the lumens also play a big part? Debating what I should buy for lights...lets here it!?!
