    Hermie, help! Emergency surgery? (pics)

So, I decided to cut off the top half of the hermie plant because there were new bud sites without any male flowers so far (I will be watching closely) and happily it looks like my other plant is just starting to flower. Is there any chance it could have been pollinated? The pistils didn't...

    Hermie, help! Emergency surgery? (pics)

Yeah, you're right. I think it might have actually been a male plant that went a little hermie the other way (red herring pistils!). Luckily, the other one is almost certainly a female although it was the smaller plant, I just noticed the pistils today and I can definitely tell the difference so...

    Hermie, help! Emergency surgery? (pics)

Are you sure? Its hard (/impossible) to tell from the pictures but there are definitely pistils on it and some kind of budding but I think the male flowers already may have pollinated the hell out of most of the female flowers and made them all seedy. Any thoughts? At this point I don't have a...

    Hermie, help! Emergency surgery? (pics)

I thought I had a female until these little balls started dangling off of my nodes. There is one spot with a pair of pistils and some kind of female flowering going on definitely but are these balls male pollen sacks and if so should I snip them off or something?

    Anyone else interested/need a light?

Pretty much the same as me. . .Good for us! Yeah, hopefully when it arrives it'll basically be all ready to plug right into the wall. I think if you're using a pretty small space (like a box or a closet you could line it with some kind of reflective material instead of attaching a reflector but...

Yeah, a reflector is always good, but I'm no expert either really! How many plants are you trying to grow/whats your current setup look like?

    Anyone else interested/need a light?

If anyone could use a light for cheap for a small operation or something I just ordered a 100w HPS light/ballast kit/caboodle off of Ebay for $28. Check it out if interested, seems pretty legit and there are four left: 100 watt HPS Ballast Bulb & socket kit 100w Grow light - eBay (item...

    Confused

Thats funny cause I just ordered a 100w HPS light/ballast off of Ebay. Only 28 bux. Hope it works. The feedback score was 100% and all that like you were saying. Check it out: 100 watt HPS Ballast Bulb & socket kit 100w Grow light - eBay (item 200213766165 end time Apr-12-08 06:15:35 PDT)

    Need an opinion

Yeah, poor college kids like me too! I don't think I could find a light for close to that price ($28) anywhere else so it still won't be a disaster even if it doesn't work so I think I'm gonna go for it. Also I was having a hard time finding a HPS light/ballast that like plugged into the...

    Limited Lights

Alright, I think I'll be good now. I got one 23w (I think, it says 100 watt equivalent-23w) cfl and a 100w HPS on the way. Should this be plenty sufficient?

    Limited Lights

Well, I just ordered a 100w HPS light/ballast off of Ebay for $28. I figure that will be good to be used along with the cfl.

    Need an opinion

Would any of you recommend buying a light off of Ebay? Also, does this specific light look like it would be sufficient for a pretty small grow (and would you trust it)? : 100 watt HPS Ballast Bulb & socket kit 100w Grow light - eBay (item 200213766165 end time Apr-12-08 06:15:35 PDT)

Where would you recommend getting a HPS light cheapest?

    Confused

I don't think it says the color rating on the packaging (its Western Family. . .) but it says the light output is 1500 lumens. I have another lamp that is about 1000. Are these two enough to grow one plant for now do you think? I'm looking into getting like a 50w HPS light soon. Also, both of my...

    Confused

I just bought one CFL for like six bux and it says "100 watts: Replacement bulb using only 23 watts". I have read a couple times that 42w CFL's were a good choice but I wasn't sure/am too stoned to figure out which number is which in both cases. . .?

    Limited Lights

Its supposed to put out 4,000 lumens plus my cfl which says 1500 lumens=5500 lumens. Right now I'm at like 2,000 lumens. How many lumens per plant do I need really for a good yield? And do you think my plants will yield anything now if I stay with the two fluorescents I have now?

    Limited Lights

So, I got a 23w equivalent cfl for now to go with my other florescent lamp. I was just looking into other lighting options and I was thinking a 50w HPS light/ballast (under $40 it looks like?) Think this would be sufficient for growing a couple plants?

    Male/Female (again sorry!)

I think I'm starting to see some tiny little balls now actually. I figured the balls would appear before the leaves shown in the picture on the right at the nodes? The only thing that made me think female was the very top of the plant (and optimism of course) where I thought all the little hair...

    Limited Lights

Well, thanks. I'm starting to think the bigger one is male. From what I've heard I don't think I could possibly grow a female plant with my light problem because my plant would be so stressed. (?) So maybe now is a good opportunity to get some lights/more seeds and start over anyway.
