If I were you i would look for more caterpillars /worm borers. usually that seem to be the case for dead single buds and turning hairs just look on the buds that seem to be turning or dying and see if you can see little brown or black dots or balls ( their poop)on the bud or fan leaves. if so...

I think I wanna build a box use same plants but metal halide and hps on different sides but flower the whole plant and see what the difference in bud and weight is.
