Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Cann--Your mailbox is full again. No worries, bro. Thanks for the info. I've got to go back and read this thread from the beginning so I can join the fun. I've got a couple 20 gallon no-till ROLS pots running. I just bought some GRD, crab shell and EWC today. I'm trying to coordinate with a...

    Urine for your plants? WTF

Urine has been used to fertilize plants for hundreds of years. It needs to be diluted with water but it's an excellent source of food for plants, as long as you're not taking a bunch of other pharmaceutical drugs. Search google for tons of info. ex...

Water curing fresh weed, but the water is clean?

When I did it my water never got all nasty looking either. I guess that means we're starting with cleaner buds. Whether you like the results or not is simply personal preference but to say it doesn't work is simply wrong. It's a scientific process called osmosis and it always does exactly what...

    smart pots anyone?

I definitely see a lot more roots in my root pots. (Aurora version of smart pots) I always try to reuse as much of my coco as I can without getting tons of old roots in it. Since switching from standard plastic pots I barely get any. It's just solid. I have to tear it apart in chunks and shake...

    found someones grow!

Growing outside is not a controlled environment and random pollination is always a risk. No way around it. I'd have supported you, cranker, if I'd seen your thread.

    bagseed

I've got a pretty good size jar of bagseeds I've saved over the years. I always assumed they were mostly Mexican sativa. Nothing wrong with that.

    found someones grow!

I'd be mad as hell if someone left me a note and I can guarantee I'd hunt until I found your garden if you told me you're worried about anything I'm growing pollinating yours. I personally know 2 other outdoor growers. One is a classic old-school hippy. If you asked him he'd give you one of...

    bagseed

I love my bagseed grows. Most are good, some are great. It's fun watching them develop and trying to figure out what you'll end up with.

MYOFB! Holy shit! As a fellow outdoor grower you shouldn't even be thinking about it.

    My Try at Water Cure

Someone around here took readings every day but I've searched around and can't find it. It was a perfect example of how this works (through osmosis) as the PPMs dropped by half each day. If anyone knows the thread I'm talking about please post it up.

    best/healthiest way of smoking??

Water curing works through osmosis, cleaning all the crap out of the plant matter. I remember seeing a thread around here where someone measured the water ppm's on a daily basis and it clearly showed the process at work. I'll dig around a bit and see if I can find it.

too much for 12 sq ft?

Do the math, bro. Like I said before, 50w/sq ft is the standard recommendation.

too much for 12 sq ft?

29" wide = approx 2.4' 15.6" deep = approx 1.3' 2.4 x 1.3 = 3.12 sq. ft. 50w/sq ft is the general recommendation. 250 watts will give a bit over 80w/sq ft, which is plenty. I'm running 100w/sq ft (400w hps in 2' x 2' cab) and it's pretty easy to burn plants if I don't stay on top of things.

Air cooled reflector vs a bare hanging bulb?

Even clean glass absorbs a portion of your usable light. I won't quote specific numbers but I've read several reports saying it can be a significant percent. How often do you clean the glass on your current air-cooled hoods? Most folks say...not often enough.

    best/healthiest way of smoking??

Water cured buds are the cleanest way to start.

Water Cure? Curious? I tried it...

It cleans everything out, not just chlorophyll. It works equally well with fresh buds as it does on already dried and cured buds. As the OP noted, it makes the best stealth smoke IMHO. Like I said, try a small amount and see for yourself. I know some people that absolutely love it and do it to...

Water Cure? Curious? I tried it...

Water curing is absolutely NOT the same thing as making hash. Making hash using bags involves lots of ice and heavy agitation, just as Micromaster said. Water curing is a week-long soaking process using room temperature water without agitation. It's a completely different process with different...

Soil vs coco or other substrates

Yes, coco yields more than soil. It's pretty similar to hydro in speed and yield, especially if you treat it more like hydro, ie. feed and water daily. Flip side, some people claim soil bud tastes better--fuller and more complex. I haven't noticed a difference myself but YMMV.
