If anything, it is less efficient for the plant to reach higher as the plant would be wasting energy on growing a larger stem with long spaces between nodes. bending over the plant allows light to penetrate more effectively into the lower parts of the plant. Ultimately, this allows lower branches to grow taller and provid more tops to your plant.

Im not an expert, but 2 ounces a plant seems pretty steep. I wish you the best though, and hopefully you harvest goes well.
