    That's definitely nute burn. Happens to other plants all the time when you go overboard with nutes. The nutes have most probably burned the roots. I'd take it out of the pot and cut the burned roots then repot. This will either save it or kill it. Just like our hospital system in the U.S.

    watering plants with coffee?

    I'd flush the plants right away to get rid of the coffee or you could put a croissant next to them and pray. Was it Costan Rican coffee? That might make a difference....yeah, right. Try bone meal instead and eggshells wouldn't hurt (not sure but they help roses).
