DTW coco in trays - solutions for clogged drainage lines?

I've been running some coco filled pots in a top-fed drip system, using trays as a catch basin. I have an active pump-out system for the drainage that moves the waste water into a central sump, then down the drain. My issue is that the coco that spills out of the pots (either through the drain...

Looking for feedback on ventilation setup for 7kw passively cooled (no A/C)

I am setting up a 7kw flowering room for a medical grow and would like some feedback on the ventilation design. The climate in the area is moderate, average temps range from highs of 50 in the winter to no higher than 80 in the summer months. And because I am a bit shy on power in this space, I...

Harvest a Pound Every Three Weeks!

The hortilux blue MH bulbs have essentially the same spectrum and output as the phillips mastercolor bulbs, but the philips bulbs are half the price. Another difference is that the phillips bulbs run on a conventional HPS ballast, whereas the hortilux blue bulbs run on MH ballasts. If you have...

Harvest a Pound Every Three Weeks!

Just thought I'd show some progress. I'm using one 400W CMH (ceramic metal halide) per flowering unit. I really like the results so far and the bulbs are very cool! I had one top pushing up against the glass, which is maybe 1.5" from the light, for two full days and I only got a little bit of...

Looking for a medical grow space in Santa Cruz, any ideas?

I'm moving to Santa Cruz soon, and of course would like to have a garden there. I live in California currently and have been a medical patient for some time, and always stay within the limits. I don't really want to have to deal with a shady grow room in a rental and end up getting kicked out...

    CNN's Pot Specials....

Im glad it's getting some air-time too, and this is at least not as biased as we typically see. I think it's important that people see there is a serious case for legalization. Sometimes all that's needed is a bit of legitimacy to change a few minds. I know a lot of people who are against...

Anybody know cultivation limits for san jose, California?

I do not live in San Jose now, but I am thinking of moving there. Does anyone know what the legal limit for cultivation is there? I've looked online and all I can find is "no established limits." That can either mean grow as much as you want, or that it's simply the state default. Oh well I...

    Anyone used hortilux bluemax bulbs?

These bulbs are metal halide with very extended red and blue spectrum so they should be great for flowering. Less efficienct than a HPSof course, but I'm thinking the active blue spectrum and extended red will actually provide more useful lumens to the plant than an equivalent wattage HPS. ANy...

    bulb opinion

Likely slightly more potent bud but possibly less overall yield compared to a straight HPS of the same wattage. If you use a hybrid bulb, I'd say increase you wattage a step for the same yields AND increased potency. For example if you were gonna use a 400 step it up to a 600, 600 to 1000, etc.

Awesome PBS documentary on Nikola Tesla

Tesla is the bomb! We owe all our grow rooms to him (he invented AC electric current). But he had even bigger plans! See what they were: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=3910509932361660298&ei=X7QUSo3DCJW4qAPxubG7CQ&q=3910509932361660298

    Which Inline blower/fan to get?

Hmmm choices, choices. I can't decide between two stanleys or the 6" windtunnel. Two stanley blowers would cost less and move a bit more air, but I trust the windtunnel more and it would b an easier install...

    Which Inline blower/fan to get?

This will be for venting two 600W HPS bulbs and one 1000W MH bulb (all in cooltubes). My main concern is noise. Doesn't have to be "silent," but also can't sound like a jet engine, you know? How's this one? http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52583 Can I get anything quieter for...

Harvest a Pound Every Three Weeks!

Holy Crap! This system is amazing! Built a cloner and veg unit a few days ago. Sprouted about 25 seeds and transferred them to the cloner 5 days ago. Since then they've popped some huge roots! I also had some seedlings a couple weeks old in rockwool cubes. I broke off as much of the rockwool as...

Can someone give me some theory behind the "fluffy buds" flourescent grow stories?

So it seems everywhere that people agree your buds will be fluffy if you use T5 bulbs for your flower stage. I'm wondering why this is? Is it because people aren't using enough lights when they use T5's? Or is it for some other reason? I'd really like to get to the bottom of this on curiosity...

    flowering under flourescent

Here's a tutorial I posted a few days ago that will tech you to build two 18,000 lumen T5 fixtures (bulbs not included in price) for about $120 total (or a single 36,000 lumen fixture with some small modifications): https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/193769-build-your-own-t5-fixtures.html...

Build your own T5 fixtures - 36,000 lumens for $120

I've been building my own T5 fixtures lately, which are perfect for cloning/vegging since they give good light and have very low heat, meaning you can keep them closer, reducing inter-node spacing and leaving you with bushier plants. It also cuts down on the height you need since the fixture is...

    quick question about aeroponics

Thanks! I think I'll try a 1min/5min cycle then. Thanks for the tip about the pump heating the water. Would an external (not submersed) pump be a bit more desireable then? Thanks again for the advice!

    quick question about aeroponics

Hi fellow growers! I'm thinking about trying a small aero setup for kicks, but after doing a bunch of research there's still one major question I have - Does the pump run constantly or in bursts? If it operates in bursts, what's the timing? Thanks!
