I don't see why you could't use fresh..the only difference would really be the moisture in your buds, but your putting it into a solvent that would have atleast a minimum of 1% water. So it might increase the amount of water in your oil in which would need to be removed and if not would leave...

War how long are you waiting before scraping it up? Does it look dry or does it look more like an oil when you scrape? i do know that some strains produce a more red/amber oil..but I have only gotten that color when I used to use the sun to evaporate/purge. ive never heard of iso being the cause of pulling red extracts
