Ok I usually fill the pots to nearly the top but going down an inch would make it almost a half way flood, I'll give it a go. I am also interested in trying the fytocell that al b talked about, does that wick up like the wool?

Have read Al B Fuks threads front to back and back to front and havnt found any reference to how high his pots are. He say he floods to 70mm but the 200mm x 175mm pots he talks about are 175mm tall at my local shops, this means there only flooded about the lower 1/3rd? Seems nowhere near...
