If your HID is an hps then a couple of 6500's wouldn't hurt. Some of those HPS bulbs are tuned for more blue also. The smaller cfl's are actually better than the larger ones because you can kep them closer to the action.

Know a thng or two about cfl's. If you are going for side lights get something 42 watts and lower as to not increase the heat in a major way. 6500k or cool white cfls are for veg and 2700k or warm white are used for flower. Personally I veg in cfl and flower with hps. Did my first couple of grows with cfl only. It important to have a mix of 2700 and 6500k cfl's for optimum growth. Mimics the sun's light spectrum better that way. I have 2/3rd's 6500k for veg ( say 16 out of the 24) and then go 2/3rds 2700k cfl's for flower. 24 is a lot of bulbs. Your grow area must be larger than mine.
