  • Hey I read your thread about CHS. I have been diagnosed with it about 4 days ago in the ER. I have been smoking close to 9-10 years very heavily. How long does it take for the symptoms to go away . I have been sick for about 6 days n the symptoms are getting alil better but this is killing me being this sick . As soon as I open my eyes I'm getting sick almost all day . I can't keep water down , nor any food .
Hey man how's the CHS? I have it too and have been off marijuana for about 10 days, all symptoms have just about gone away. Have you tried smoking again after a long break?
While I have not been diagnosed today is my first time hearing of this and the first time in 5 years that I have finally found the cause of all my problems. I've been smoking for 14 years and have experienced these symptoms verbatim for the last 5. I've been hospitalized, had every test in the book and found nothing. I smoke heavy but if it is causing this then I'm done! My sister who also smokes heavy suffers as well. This may not be a common issue but it is an issue and you are not alone!
I was diagnosed w/ CHS. I was a heavy pot smoker since age 16. At 25, I developed severe stomach pain with vomiting and nausea. My attacks gradually increased in frequency and severity, until it became a daily occurrence. The only thing that helped was taking hot showers/hot baths, up to 15-20 times a day; besides being hospitalized for pain control. In 2011, a doctor at Cedars-Sinai told me he learned of a condition called Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS). He told me all CHS sufferers had this commonality of taking a lot of taking hot showers/baths to help alleviate their symptoms; it affects 1% of heavy pot-users, but believed there were more undiagnosed cases as most doctors were unaware of this condition. Since I stopped smoking weed, I’ve now been painfree for 4 years. I hope by sharing my story, it will at least help one person and will help spread the word to inform people about CHS.
for me it was strange that after 24h of vomiting (i got metocroplamid, relanium and 2 others dont rememebr) i felt horibble (if i had gun i shot myself). so i decided to smoke a joint. 5 min later everything gone. EVERYTHING. cant find solution. it is a circle
hi. i have experienced the same. cycling since 10 years. few times in hospital. pls contact me if u want to know more. maybe have u found how to get rid of it qithout quitting smoking?
Hey there. Today my g/f was told her g.i. problems are due to marijuana smoking. As I was researching CHS I found this forum and your posts. After dozens of e.r. visits, three hospital admissions, every g.i. test known to man, CAT scans, MRI's and a complete change of diet..... we may finally have an answer to her problems.

Today, as I was describing the symptoms, I told the doctor that a heating pad and warm baths would provide temporary relief. As soon as I said that she asked if my g/f smoked marijuana. I was surprised by how quickly she asked the marijuana question. The doctor seemed to have seen this before.

Tomorrow will be day one w/o marijuana for her. After a few days I'll let ya know how things are going for us. In the meantime do you have any advice in dealing with this ?
Hey. I've got what I assume to be CHS as well, and it seems to be very much real.. At first I was extremely skeptical about this and didn't believe a word of it... I was off pot recently for two weeks and haven't felt better! The other night I picked it back up to see if I was still able to smoke and awoke the next morning with extreme abdominal pain, and nausea (once again, a hot bath cured the symptoms until I got out of the tub). Honestly, its a shame some of our fellow stoners are so resistant to the subject probably because this is ammunition for people to oppose pot legally, but I still believe the information should be out there rather than ignore it. I know for fact that if I knew this existed I defiantly wouldn't have smoked pot like crazy to give myself this!
Hi CHS and others.. I'm also the fiance of a CVS sufferer, and the other night while up all night with him I happened on information about CHS. This sounds exactly like what he's suffering from. He's going to the doctor on Tuesday but we're going weed free until then.. so far it's not helping. I imagine there's build up in his system he'll have to work through. Have any of the rest of you experienced success with cannabis cessation? (And also I'm furious about those asshole comments, too, Zpeace..) Thanks in advance! - Elissa
Hey man, I wanted to tell you thank you about bringing awareness regarding CHS. My fiancé has been through hell the last 3 years and it turns out this might be it. I already posted on your CHS link. I only read the 1st page as of now ( couldn't read anymore due to all the negative fucking comments to the closed mind stoners) Really I thought Cannabis opens your mind lol. Anyway I will give you an update on my fiancés condition hoping that cessation of cannabis is the cure.
This usually wore off by noon 1ish. The past 2 days have been agonizing though with pains and nausea lasting throughout the day. I cut back smoking and it seems to help a bit. Anyways, sorry for the life story, I could just relate ya digg? But if you could keep me posted on how you're doing thatd be sweet. Seeing that other ppl are going through this and are beating it makes me keep on keepin on. Thanks yo

P.s. sorry for the dubz message, wasn't enough room for all I had to say on one
Hey man wassup. I've been dyin the past couple days with the same symptoms. And its gotta be the pot. I recently acquired a bong about a month ans a half ago and in that time my smoking went through the roof. It used to be I'd smoke a bowl or two out of my pipe for the entire day. But since I got this bong I kinda got a bit reckless... I was doing like 3-4 bowls in one sitting out of the bong. This also probably doesn't help that I was putting tobacco on them for maximum high. But yea for the past year I had an uneasy stomach and figured it was the pot but my stomach didn'thurt, just felt weird. I had minor symptoms, like no appetite and a queasy stomach but this was nothing until 5 days ago. I'd wake up and be nauseous. Wouldn't throw up but felt like it in the morning. Couldn't eat, but hungry.
Hi I came across your post bout chs an I was really mad about those people talking shit to you. I have the same symptoms an the docs never put a name on it but most said it was caused by smoking weed. Are you still clean an if so are you better now. Other people say it takes a few months to know. I have been dealing with this for awhile also.
