  • hey ive just purchased a 90w led lamp and plan on growing 2 plants in my attic, will this light be sufficient, ive done my best to research it but everyone seems to have a different opinion and you seem to know what your talking about so any advice would be gratefully received, thanks
Ahh I hear ya with the unemployment woes, I'm searching for a good full time myself. Well if it ever happens let me know! I sure would like to see an LED pole. You planned on 300w correct? The one I'm plannin should only run 90w but be much more intense than any commercially available LED grow light. I have a thread open for it if you'd like to see. Are you going to do a journal for those CMH? I have been interested in those as well, I just need my next grow to be stealth so heat generation is not too much of an option for me.
Hey did you ever happen to create that LED hexagon? I'm starting to look a lot more into the LedEngin LZ1 series 5 watt, and just wanted to see if you had somethin goin with that LED tube or not :)
Hey, thanks for stopping in and checking out my stuff, and thanks for the very kind words. dont forget to post me a link to your art work. + reps bro
The 15w bulb with 1w LEDs seem to have a 30 Degree viewing angle on the outer LEDs and 40-60 Degrees on the inner LEDs(depending on who makes it). The 11w bulb has a 140 degree angle. It seems they're very similar as far as lumens go, but as for the PAR at the plant level I'm not sure which would be best.

If you were curious which fixture I will be using for these bulbs, here it is.

Since they are able to be focused I was kind of leaning towards the 15w bulb just because of the viewing angle, but like I said before I'd really like your opinion on this. Thank you! :)
Best of luck with that 300w hexagon, that sounds really interesting! If you get it goin sometime soon you should throw some pics up here somewhere :) show all those HPS users that it's possible to do good by LED!

Fortunately for you, you understand all the differences in mA, forward volts, etc etc. From what I've read up on making custom LED panels is that you need a machine to do reflow soldering(to get the led mounted to the heatsink???)? Since I don't understand all this I purchased an 8 bulb mount that I plan on using e27 bulbs. I was hoping you could answer a question for me pertaining viewing angle?

See, I've found a couple of different bulbs that look good, the only problem is I'm not sure which bulb to go with. Here are 2 links with the bulbs.

Sorry about the other spectrum question I found where you typed it out there on page 3. Musta been one of those pages I skipped cause I didn't wanna hear peoples' whining lol. Would you happen to know if Rambo can make individual spectrum high power LED to whatever you like? I see they have the 450 and 655-660 but do they make the other kind too?

From what I've been browsing around and seeing is that the high power ones that you solder to the heat sink yourself are a lot stronger for the watts used. Much more efficient than increasing the number of 5mm LEDs. They do look impressive, it's just that you need so many of them!
Wow thanks for all of that info. :)
I do have a few more questions if you don't mind..
The first being, what kind of spectrum would be considered full spectrum for flowering?
I know chlorophyll is absorbed somewhere around 660nm for flowering, but is there any other spectrums that would help along with that?
And for vegging, does it matter if it's specifically that wavelength? What if it's off by 10-25nm? Does that change anything?

http://www.ledgrow.eu/ You may find this just as enlightening as I did :)
Hey hey, I'm a little new to RIU. Mostly I just browse threads to find different ideas for my grow op. Last night I stumbled upon your thread about group buys for LEDs. I was mostly curious if the blue light spectrum is good for vegging? I read that you're not really too concerned about using them to veg since flouros seem to do the job. But nonetheless I was still curious about your LED experience, thanks!
does this company have an all red ufo? I'd like 1 for flowering....Either that or 1 of them 150w panels you posted, and I'l use my 45s for side lights.
I couldnt get my pics to upload for some reason...but I did manage to get a picture to upload for my avitar.
...now if you could use the same LEDs used by Lighthouse, then you would have a world class light!
I'm rolling 294w pure LED in a small closet. I'm sure I have all the light I need! I have now have the LightHouse 2009 and 2010 models. In GrowBoys next issue, they will make a startling recommendation: flower with (1) 2009 model + (1) 2010 model. That's the first time GrowBoys will have recommended LED for flowering! I'm so happy I did my research and got the best light.
Hi I am interested group purchase of LEDs.
I am a Living Wall designer and a horticulturalist interested in developing viable system for year-round food production in the North. I don't grow pot but I do recognize the contribution that the weed growers have made to advancing the technology of LED grow lights. Some of my colleagues think the LIFI lights make more sense but I am not so sure.
Please send me details on what you have in mind for a bulk order. One thing that may complicate matters is that I am in Canada. I am not sure how you intend to redistribute the lights or will the manufacturer do individual shipments?
