Laserbrn - DP White Widow

Well, the cooler temps are back and I'm back to growing. I quit a little early last year trying to anticipate an early warm summer and it stayed cold until June, burn. This year I started a little earlier as I've been tired of buying my smoke. I have to get to a point where I'm growing what I smoke and not ever buying anymore.

Anyway....Dutch Passion's White Widow. I went back to the strain because I enjoyed it in the past and it's familiar. I am not looking for an adventure this year, I'm looking to get some good smoke at a reasonable price. I did the math and properly doing this project yearly should save me about $8000.00/yr on personal smoke for me and my lady.

My avatar pic is from the last DP White Widow grow that I undertook. The buds from those things were crystal covered and came out the size of pro footballs. I have a pic of one standing up against a 5 gallon water jug, it's retarded. That was with a single 600w, this year I've upgraded to a single 1000w light.

The veg is done, I've switched the lights to 12/12 as of 3 days ago. One of the plants got a lot of shit spilled on the leaves when it was younger so it's got spots, but it's fine overall. Those leaves may shit out in the coming weeks, but I just couldn't toss it. Another got snapped in half during an agreesive LST attempt because it was growing faster than the others. I tried taping it up, but it was too far gone. I only wanted 6 plants, so I wasn't terribly dissapointed that one snapped and one was a bit "damaged", but then I just couldn't bring myself to throw out either of the two so I upgraded the light instead ;).

So this is basically just pics of the beginning of flower. (I need to trim the bottom 1/3 of these tonight!)

I totally agree, I'm over paying for pot. With a little more experience and the proper set-up, I hope to get a personal use perpetual grow going sometime in the near future, just enough for me and my fiance, and the occasional guest. Your plants look very nice, I hope you have a comparable if not better grow, compared to your last run with this strain.

Well thank you kind sir. I can't really do a perpetual gargen because in the summer my electricity bill is already outrageous. With tiered pricing there's just no way it's feasible over the summer. I'm an A/C hog when it gets hot out here so I cut the growing off. So the plan has to be to just get enough to get through the summer.

Here's an update. 12 days of flower....That's a lotta stretch! Pretty much the way these things go...not much to say yet. The one plant that was on the virge of death going into flower now looks perfectly fine and healthy. I had tied it down with a twisty tie from a loaf of bread, it was loose, but it was dying until I took that off, then it just turned itself around. The leaves that were damaged still haven't fallen off and I can't bring myself to rip them off. They look hideous, but the plant is now healthy and fine.

yeah, i've heard a lot of different opinions on cutting fan leaves. supposedly they can still conduct photosynthesis for a long while even if they're not their best looking green. your method is to not cut, just let the plant decide if it wants to get rid of damaged or unhealthy ones? i chose to cut a few at the least light penetration. btw, the girls are looking nice! :peace:

Yup, this was all from a new batch of seeds. I took cuttings already, but I'm not sure how the timing will work out for them. I basically took them from the two best looking plantsat the time I took them. I figure it wouldn't do much good to take them from a bunch of different plants. The different pheno's are a bit of a trip, but I'm dealing with it. Definitely different heights going on.

Yup, as long as I believe it's doing the plant good, I leave it alone. I'll likely remove the damaged leaves in the next few days though, they are now getting pretty annoying to look at, lol.

Glad to see your back at it! I was wondering what your opinion of the type of smoke the DP white widow is...more heady or more body high? Sub'd for another great show!

Heady high...Real racey kind of feeling. I remember that last time when I was running low on my supply, I was kind of glad. In the right situations it is absolutely the best. Friend over, we're all smoking, laughing and having a good time, yeah, can't believe how high we would get. Sitting at home by myself trying to watch a football game on a sunday afternoon looking for a lazy day, not the right shit. This is not a Netflix Night kind of thing.

I am going to snap some pictures tonight after the lights come on. I can see the difference day to day, but really it's the weekly pictures that show what's going on.

3 weeks of flower. Things are starting to get rolling. Plants seem happy/healthy. I'm feeding now at full strength water-water-feed. Watering every other day.

I am using Fox Farms nutrient line up, just the basic shit, all the other shit is a scam. Just Grow Big, Big Blook and Tiger Bloom. I added two full strength feedings with big bloom and the plants look nice and green going into the 4th week. From here out, no more nitrogen as the plants really shouldn't be using much anymore.

Not really a lot to report, things are just chuggin' right along. I tested my soil ph last night and it's right at 6.5 so no problems there.

Also can you show me a picture of the nutrients you're using? Are they the liquid ones fox farms sell? If so how do you feed it to your plants

I'll run it down for you from the beginning including all of the details that I can remember as being important. It's a good excercise anyway and may stand as good information for someone else looking for it. I'm really high, watching football and feel like sharing. I will try to include as many details as I can recall. Feel free to ask for any details that I may have missed. I'm going to post the info in the next post as I don't like working directly in this window in case something happens and I lose it all. This will be useful to me in the future I'm sure anyway.
