No if you move enough air, in and out with negative pressure, you are continuously bringing in new Co2 and exchanging the O that the plants emit. Then in the process, all the heat from the lights and humidity, will also be controlled aka exchanged.

Smell will be impacted by adding an activated charcoal [carbon] filter. At this stage in the game with being so small and using pc fans, you are pretty much left with DIY route for a filter. But they are easy to build.

50w's of LED bulbs @ 79F. Cab was originally wired with single light bulb fixtures using CFL's. I don't think I will ever use CFL's again.

Here is a big DIY thread that has a few versions. When I find one I like, I just shrink it. [Like the famous Walmart pencil cup one.... just use any small mesh, pantyhose and activated charcoal [Walmart]]

Lately I have been trying out Carbon fabric filters cut out and stuffed into yogurt cups, that way the fan can pull the air thru it and the small cups fit the diameter of the fan and don't interfere with my lights.


The bulbs put out more intensity of light than cfl's at less wattage, they are more efficient than the cfl's to some degree and put out little heat. Far less than any of my CFL grows.

--- haha, that's funny dude, you could hold a lighter to r-134a and it would just blow the flame out, It's never healthy to breath that crap in but it wont freeze your lungs unless you put your freakin mouth right up to the copper.

The compressor on that mini fridge is hermetically sealed, if you were a licensed HVAC tech and not some shade tree v-dub mechanic you would know that too ( plus you are referring to r-12 that hasn't been used in over 20 years). I'm a Professional Engineer by trade and have specialized in mechanical systems for more than 10 years, I'm also a universally licensed HVAC/ Plumbing contractor.
 Evacuating refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal but so is a majority of the stuff that goes on here haha. You could use a vacuum pump but you would need a saddle valve or tap and it still may not work due to the size of the lines.

I've had a few vdubs over the years myself, my wife and I are very fond of Squarebacks and Things lol, This guy was just spouting off nonsense.

Here's the $2 dollar solution.
1 per each fan.

1k pot Linear $1.99

I wire both of my fans into a terminal strip, powered by a 12v 500mA supply from Goodwill and DirecTV...;]. The pot only controls the interior fan, [my exhaust fan blows at 12v's] The pot just hangs out with a little case I had, the aluminum plate must help soak up heat, because it never really gets warm even.

It is fairly easy to wire and solder the pot with a jumper. Diagram included.

This is an easy way too. You can splice into the 12v of the fan controller [most need about 2A's] and then if your fan's aren't hacked you can use 3 or 4 pin connectors.

Cooler Guys also makes a 1.5 amp power connector for any fan/fan controller.

$6 4 channel fan controller's can be had online.

Really cool is to add a little lcd voltage meter inline with the controller/pot and you get a voltage readout, which is a lil better than low, medium and high :)

is there a way to test and see what kind of pots i have here? I pulled them out of some rc stuff a while back but do know how to get the specs, i have multi meters and whatnot just not sure of the processes..

Slow down for a second! Nothing will be fun and educational with that spirit....I think you are trying to do to much right away.

Do you know how to connect the rheostat [potentiometer] in the correct config? That the fan is still running @ 12v, it could be wired incorrectly or the resistance is so high, it will never shut the fan off. It the resistance is too low, it should get hotter than a muthafucka.

You leave the neutral alone [wire it power source to fan directly] and wire your hot [red] to terminal #1. Also place a small jumper wire from #2 to #3 and finally connect another wire from #3 terminal to the your fan's hot lead. [That should at least get you in business]

Your power side always is wired to the pot, because the pot vary's voltage, ok. You don't have to control your fan speed right away, I didn't my 1st grow.

It took me a while of reading and Googling DIY fan controllers before I got the gist of controlling fans, but even then I wired incorrectly and just recently had to ask questions. DIY requires some PATIENCE....SMOKEBREAK

I did a grow in a mini fridge, it worked pretty well too. If I had to do it all over again, I'd just buy a temperature controller and plug the fridge into it so that you could set the temp to 75 or whatever. Then, I'd only periodically intake fresh air and exhaust through one-way baffles.

wish u woulda chimed in sooner, freon gone and hole thru cold plate already. Ty tho will keep in mind.
