Thanks. I have a question about feminized seeds. Lets say you're flowering and you can get the lady to create seeds on her own pollen would the seeds come out the same as the plant it came from? Like a clone where you know what you're getting. You know how long it takes to flower, how tall she'll get, her smell and etc...

between 2 and 3 weeks into flowering is the pollination period. If you do not have pollen collected by then, your answer would be no. the seed cannot come from the same plant.
as you can see from my first 2 pages. I take clones, put them in a separate area 12/12 no fan, spray with Colloidal Silver until they produce male parts, and collect feminized pollen.
I will then use the pollen i collect to pollinate other clones of it's own strain as well as other strains.

It's just like if you crossed the mother and one of her similar sisters. Some of the offspring should be phenotypically similar to the mother but there will be a lot of variety unless the mother is from a strain that is true breeding for a number of characteristics.

subd late in the game haha

ive been wanting to work on a strain that got pollinated by accident. I found a single seed in almost 4 oz of purple somethin or other and grew it out, assuming it would be female because it was the only seed and figured it self pollinated. So i start growin it out, looks great, nice tight nodes, very indica, swear i see pistols poppin, leave it in veg another month because my flower box was gettin full.

Then i say fuck it and toss it into flower after about 2-3 months of veg and i was certain i saw pistols.
well i come in 2 days later and its covered in pollen sacks and i bag and tag it ASAP.

Well, in the room, i had a hog (thseeds) that had just started flowering and some kings kush (greenhouse) plants that were about a month in so only the kings kush really got pollinated.

So now i have about 50-75 seeds and i plan to grow out and do some selective breeding to get a Purple Kings Kush.

Now to get to my actual point. What do you look for in a male?? Just any male you get you keep to polinate? Or do you see how each grow, save a little pollen, then once youve seen a hand full grow you choose which one you want to keep as the main father??

Picking males is an art and ultimately even when you have some clues that a male might be a good father the only way to know for sure is to grow his daughters. Ideally a female of known quality is pollinated by several males and the one that produces the best offspring is the one that gets used.

Currently for me it depends on the strain. Some i may only get one male from the seeds i popped. in that case, i would just use the 1.

My spyder auto males, BOTH had a very skunky smell to them. and both hermed.(which i've read is a good thing for increasing potency.)

MrEduck answered already so. :)

thanks for the response guys! have you ever used or seen anyone use CS, or any other product like it, to convert a male to female??

i vaguely recall hearing it works well going either way. But that was years ago and ive smoked alot since then haha.

The problem with that is. the time it takes to switch. You start CS 1 week before switching lights.
So if you had a male and did this. by the time it started to switch,
it would already be spreading pollen and have male genetics so you could get more males that females from seeds produced....
I think. on the last part. not 100% on it.

I use CS now for female to male. still waiting for the change.

I want to do another STS run with daily sprayings for 21 days starting 1 week before the flip like people recommend with CS because I was only seeing a response for a day or two after spraying.
Silver works by preventing the plant from utilizing ethylene to signal production of female flowers. Since the ability to make male flowers seems to be hard coded into the cannabis genome it makes sense that when unable to make female flowers it would make male ones.

thanks again guy! youre quicker than google! haha and i dont have to scrub through a dozen random links.

cant wait to start my breeding project. Just wish i had more room/money so i could do it right instead of the half-assed way im gonna be doing it.

on the bright side the mom and dad for the project are pretty closely related growth wise. pretty indica dom so im hopin not to have too much difference in growth patterns or height so i can focus on flavor, potency, yield, etc...

Not too extreme. but large.. 45 i think is the total when flowering starts. some will get pollenated...
Gotta do another sex check today. Pop the males in the closet with the CS project.
should be showing on the 4 that popped pre's last week.....
