No brick weed, what a horrible and cruel joke. There are many sativa strains with a mellow buzz. Buddha's sister by soma ceeds is one. Just cruise attitude and check out some of the early strains, ruderalis crosses and such. But please do not support the brick swag. Save your lungs for the good good. Plus if you only want to be high for an hour just take one hit maybe two, and right before your break is over do some physical activity like jumping jacks or some shit. That will sober you up. Cheers.

Oh shit I forgot one: Cannaventure's purpleberry bx II. I guarantee you will not be stone an hour after smoking this crud, but then again you won't be stone ten minutes after you smoke it either. At least my five pheno's that was the case.

Try Larry OG kush from Cali connection, the buzz lasts less than one hour and its very very soft.. Kind like an auto flowering. Or get an auto flowering.

If you harvest when the thrichs are mostly clear, you'll get a quick buzz that is not sustained and goes away quickly. Like ricky1lung said, Just pull your favorite smoke a week early or so.

In my opinion all you will accomplish by harvesting early is lame tasting bud, better to get a strain that already has the properties your looking for and let it show its full beauty

Tough question. I am looking for the opposite. I need something that keeps me high as long as possible. Believe me, after 50 years on this earth, living in the US, and being subjected to all the lies and bullshit about freaking everything especially cannabis, my goal is to STAY high so the shit bounces off me. You may not understand, but keep living and you will see!!

Thanks for the leads everybody, all of which I'll probably look into some more except for crappy weed. High THCV strains, early flowers, Larry OG kush... If you suggest a particular strain it would be nice to know if you have some reasoning about why it produces a 'short' high and if it's just based on experience that's great too.

From reading on thcv, some of the information points to maybe it operates like anti-pot which has me wondering what would happen if I smoked some purer thc and then when I wanted down smoke some purer thcv... Any idea how a person would go about isolating thcv away from thc?

It boils at 420 or so...distillation is all I got but it wouldn't really work....so no I dont know...and chemistry is my strong suit...well and pharmacology

And thanks for the advice jimdandee but I'm not ready to join the perma-stoned just yet - there are too many things in the universe that I like to track and kill, and my track and kill skills go to shit when I'm stoned.

Not sure what your saying the numbers are qwizoking, and I think your idea is that if thc boils/breaks down at a lower temperature than thcv I could boil off the thc and isolate thcv...

I only grow landrace sativas, one that I keep around has real high thcv levels. It will cut through any other high and get your heart pumping like taking hits if adrenaline. Even if your burnt out from smoking all day it will pick you up and keep you moving. That's basically what thcv is for, but it comes on strong and leaves in about 30 min...think of it like an amphetamine,

"Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Boiling point: 157ºC / 314.6ºFahrenheit Properties: Euphoriant, Analgesic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antiemetic
cannabidiol (CBD) Boiling point: 160-180ºC / 320-356ºFahrenheit Properties: Anxiolytic, Analgesic, Antipsychotic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antispasmodic
Cannabinol (CBN) Boiling point: 185ºC / 365º Fahrenheit Properties: Oxidation, breakdown, product, Sedative, Antibiotic
cannabichromene (CBC) Boiling point: 220ºC / 428ºFahrenheit Properties: Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic,Antifungal
Δ-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-8-THC) Boiling point: 175-178ºC / 347-352.4º Fahrenheit Properties: Resembles Δ-9-THC, Less psychoactive, More stable Antiemetic
tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) Boiling point: < 220ºC / <428ºFahrenheit Properties: Analgesic, Euphoriant...

I make hash out of an early harvest of that plant to get the qualities I desire..isolating thcv isn't an easy task,

Great info, thanks qk. Sounds like you have a plant as opposed to a particular strain that you are using. I'd like to assist you in growing that plant, six of them to be exact - I wonder how we could work that out.

Earlier you had said that harvesting early just led to lame tasting bud but above you're saying you use an early harvest to make hash?

Yea most people harvest at say 20% amber. All the trichs mature at a different rate, once it turns cloudy its done producing and has started degrading. Inherently to make sure most of the trichs are at their peak some must be over ripe and are degrading. When making hash oil there is no plant matter to take into consideration so while I lose a small amount of weight the plants genetics predetermine the amounts of each cannabinoid along with other aromatic turpines in each head, overtime they get fatter and aromas developed but for hash purposes I want the best color and high, if I do it with mostly clear to cloudy trichs my hash oil is pretty much clear.. I do a hexane/saline wash and an etoh wash to get the best quality and use as little heat as possible, not using heat to decarb, no light, and other oxidizers...to eliminate any degredation of thcv etc or amber coloring
