Heavy 16 problems in ebb and gro

Has anyone else experienced problems with heavy 16 in an ebb and grow. From the very beginning I used heavy grow a and b, prime, roots excel, and great white. Started getting crazy ph up problems where my ph would shoot to 7.2 overnight. I tried using airstones and tried just recirc pumps. Finally I am at the point where I am just using the a and b but still getting ph rising. Had a bad bit of root rot so I look in my buckets and see a bunch of brown/red globules floating around. Figured it was algae and started to use heisenburgs tea. I want to go back to using the full lineup and was wondering what people would suggest. Thinking of using pool shock continually through the rest of this grow instead of tea because if I keep using the tea I can't use prime because its a microbe feed. Any thoughts?

Also this is a big grow and I need to have a successful first run in order to pay back investors

Heavy is dirty and works great! But not so in ebb and flow
the prime is whats causing the slime....

if theres that much riding on this then i would switch to another nute brand.
1st. canna
2nd. Technoflora
3rd. AN

canna my first choice.....
for ebb & flow
aqua A/B
pk 3/14
heavy 16 foiler spray once a week

bennys
orca
aquashield

or brew hies tea

this is a extreamly clean line up :)

Not sure what is in Prime but I know Roots Excel is notorious for sliming DWC buckets, might be the same issue in E&F.

I'm trying the Tea myself as you might have seen and it seems to be working but we will see.

Good luck!

Maybe ill give canna a try on the next run, I just wanna get the ph issue figured out for this run that's why I was thinking maybe use pool shock and basically just nuke my Rez with it killing anything the prime would feed.

Shitty thing is your not going to be able to correct the swing! Your ph is rising due to bacteria activity in your res
hense the reason your getting slime!

Using good bennys to combat the bad will help but if you continue to add heavy your just spinning your wheels
with no resolve.

I'm about to try using pool shock, and that's how it should be, I'm only watering once a day. I think the cookies strain I got is super finicky.

What do you mean by clean?

Zero organics! And leaves very little resadue in your res.
pool shock and other alike products work but like i said
you cant keep throwing organics into your system and not
have a issue..... Heavy 16 is made for dtw with soils and
other coco type mediums.

there is only one option bro......

I am not disputung anybodys advise here but try flooding more often. I had similar little niggles, I started feeding once every hour for 15 mins and never had a problem since. well oxygenated water seems to do it for me, nice air stones and waterfall effect feeding back to res. Organics or sterile, not easy to mix the 2.

I feel you I was just wondering. Probably gonna switch it up to h and g or might even just try gh.

GreenDyl, I see you're still having root problems so here's the solution.

1- DM Zone at 2-3 ml/gallon in your rez.
2- Raise all of your buckets to ensure that they drain completely after each flood cycle.
3- NEVER re-use airstones, medium, or tubing. Replace with new each and every run, a small price to pay for healthy crops.
4- Trust me on this one, I've tried it all and this method has been 100% successful for me.

I routinely yield about 8oz per plant in my E&G's and have clean white massive root balls right up until harvest day.

Take it for what it's worth but this is the solution. Follow my advice, thank me later.

Oh, one more thing. Avoid putting anything "organic" in your rez.

I've had great yields with H&G and DM Gold line but the DM Gold nutes seem to leave a bad taste in the finished smoke even after a proper flush.

I don't know much about Heavy 16.

Also, doesn't running full synth or a super clean line kill the bennies?
No it give your bennys the foundation it needs to get going!

your good bennys are organic you just dont want bad bennys...
to thive in your system.. Adding organic nutes is like throwing gas
on a fire :(

start sterile with chem nutes then add your controled good bennys and
the bad will not stand a chance.

Hellraizer gives solid advice but this is something we don't seem to agree on. I say start sterile, stay sterile. Once again, I yield over half a P per plant in my E&G. Anyone else getting numbers like that?

Even if the EWC tea works it's murky, stinky, and unnecessary IMO. I tried it for awhile just for kicks but reverted back to the DM Zone for simplicity, cleanliness, and effectiveness.

Good luck!

I think my problem was just getting the good Bennies colonized cause I was having crazy ph issues and I did a test run with the tea and my full lineup and the ph stayed somewhat stable. Went from 5.9 to 6.2 in 24 hrs
