New Species

This is my new breeding project...
A cannabis varieties capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring, also having an inability to create any offspring with other cannabis varieties.
...I'm not going to focus on potency or medicinal properties it is just for shits and giggles.

I think the fastest and easiest way to achieve this would be breeding visible mutations with other visible mutations, oh and lots of inbreeding. OMG WHY!!!
Any normy females I'll just grow out and smoke.

Breeding stock will be my Third Dimension x Grand Daddy Purple F5
I'll be using miracle grow moister control in gallon sized pots.
I already planted 72 seeds and got 71 sprouts no food given just water.
SAM_0027.jpg
I had 2 seedlings sprouted with 3 cotyledon, but I can only locate one now... I guess I'll just have to backcross with it to see if the trait that can even be passed on. Wish I still had the mother if it turns out to be male.

OMG please be monoecious that would be awesome..... First and only time I pray for a hermi.....

Comments and Criticism are more then welcome.

Recently had a new cross mature and the leaves caught my eye.

trinity did some strange stuff at the end of last years outdoor but I was guessing it was magic <lol>
I always thought duckfoot was some awesome sauce for guerilla growing.
not particularly interested in revegging mutants lol

I pick males with this trait for an irrational reason. I have no clue what kind of medicinal traits the male possess or even the type of alleles for a medicinal trait; nullizygous, hemizygous, heterozygous, or homozygous.

The females with double serration seem to exhibit what I call triple-stacked trichomes, three different sized capitate-stalked trichomes.

I have a friend that has been growing for 30+ years he calls it "dragon scales" ...I'm still not sure if he thinks its a good thing or a bad thing... My opinion is usually the only one that I listen to.

Horrible Examples of females without double serrations

Horrible Examples of females with double serrations
I half-ass it when I pick females. I start flowering around week 3-8 depending on how its going. Then I just collect resin from ripe glans with a razor blade... then I smoke it.... I do that about 4 or 5 times on each girl tell I find a few I really like then I take some clones or reveg it.

Interesting, I usually see stalked trichomes more when I flower with fluroscent bulbs... I find the only way to bred is to: A. Guess or B. follow only actual results. Meaning you smoke the end dryed product to find your breeders. Or you guess by looking smelling, and smoking immature bud or crystals..... Most will guess, as breeding from actual results, takes much longer, and is more difficult...

Also, because of the guessing, the true value within a genetic system is rarely found... Breeders tend to make turns at every stop sign, rather then finding where the road will take them...

That's because properly following the road requires millions of plants and space, time and resources most of us could never dream of having, and if we did have it, we'd likely find ourselves locked up right quick as hiding millions of growing plants is somewhat challenging.

But I completely agree with Vincent.

One thing that can help to speed the process is to self any potential females to see what kind of results you get out of them. Unstable seed stock from an S1 means its unlikely very useful for breeding.

Smoking dried products to find breeders is incorrect. You find breeders by breeding to find which pass desirable traits onto children. This being only logical... a ditch weed plant crossed with ditch weed has a possibility of being wonderful.

As for "self any potential females" some of my strains are impossible for me to turn monoecious.
I estimate from previous trials that "Third Dimension x Grand Daddy Purple F5" has 25% chance of being capable monoecious. Early on in breeding I would not breed any females if I were able to make them monoecious.

My opinion is breeders that breed monoecious females are like a plague and ruining cannabis. For shits and giggles I guess its okay though...

I had a Super Silver Haze I could not turn monoecious with colloidal silver, light stress, heat stress, or nutrient stress. I will never use gibberellic acid. Nasty weed though I hate SSH... I crossed it with (third dimension x grand daddy purple)F4 planted 126 seeds only to see 19 sprout hope one is a keeper. I still have about 200 seeds of it. Last year outdoor I grew two SS3D females one was as horrible as Super Silver Haze and the other was so god-like I cry at night cause I didn't keep it. Best weed I grew last year out of 9 great females.

I may buy some Colchicine in the future, I'd like to make a decaploid cannabis clone only strain.

dumb question

monoicous ,,,, if i remember correctly this means a plant that knocks out either a male geno or a female , how you hoping to turn this trigger off again ? as far as i know your looking at gene splicing to be able to do this unless you want to tell me differently ?

oh and please feed your plants , its clear there short N

and while i remember 3 coys aye , from a fair bit of experience your plant will turn out male , happens in 9-10 of them , this is nothing more than something pwetty but given the trait grows out when the nodes arnt opposed and it cant be passed onto clones to be grown out then its pointless , got one myself a the moment , funnly enough its came from an easy sat thats feminised or female , time will tell if it turns ladyboy on me

"Monoicous plants are those species that bear both sperm and eggs on the same gametophyte. Dioicous plants are those that have gametophytes that produce only sperm or eggs but never both."

I have Dioicous strains and breed for them specifically and breed out Monoicous plants.

My nieghboor had a 3 cotyledon 100% female was a tri-node though, it finished in January all its sisters finished in September.

Wiki said:
Hermaphrodite is used in botany to describe a flower that has both staminate (male, pollen-producing) and carpellate (female, ovule-producing) parts. This condition is seen in many common garden plants. A closer analogy to hermaphroditism in botany is the presence of separate male and female flowers on the same individual—such plants are called monoecious. Monoecy is especially common in conifers, but occurs in only about 7% of angiosperm species.
Hermaphrodite is an incorrect term when referring to plants, it is an animal term.

I already had this mixed up so I gave it to them all.
tspper 4 Gallon PPM @ User Strength

0 HardwaterMicro1217011418613272973.11.20.30.20.10.020.01
15 FloraBloomTotal PPM733

I'm brewing 4 gallons of tea for the transplant. 1.25ml SuperThrive, 15ml Dark Energy 2-0-0, 30ml Bio Root 1-1-1, 21ml Bio Marine 2-3-1 (fish not the squid one), 1gram Soluble Seawead Extract 1-1-16. I threw some Glomus intraradices for an inoculant.

I still do not have enough pots for all of them =[
I'm going to separate them all today, I do so with the hose and wash all the dirt off the roots and then I transplant them with a bit of SuperThrive and Nuts ph 5.76 or 6.68 depending on where it is going. I have only killed a few like this out of the 1k+ I have done it to. I know now which ones will die, the ones I destroy too much of the roots. Them sprouts that have destroyed roots I put in DWC for a while and they almost always live now.

I'll make a HD video today =]

I use words like male to describe plants with only stamens or female to describe plants with only carpels.

I don't use the terms hermaphrodite when refering to cannabis anymore though.

MARIJUANA... great stuff
I guess you can use it, but it's extremely broad seeing how their are so many variants a hermaphroditic plant can be.

Most cannabis strains I've seen called "hermi" produce two separate imperfect flowers with the majority being female making it a subgynoecious plants. I've seen two different cannabis "hermi" one is monoecious and the other is subgynoecious with a few monoclinous flowers, but I've never seen a fully monoclinous plant. How ever Lemon Larry OG is radical and does some strange things like this.

A lot of Cannabis strains I've grown are subdioecious mostly from not breeding androecious plants but breeding with subgynoecious plants. Breeding only gynoecious with androecious individuals will result in far less "hermis". I know from observation.

Don't be hating on where I get basic knowledge. =] http://www.enchantedlearning.com

Hermaphroditic?? plants... I always think of monoclinous (perfect flowering) plants like tomatoes, I've yet to see cannabis establish this.

So how are you hoping to create a new species? From breeding the listed varieties? I disagree with what mogggys said about the whorled phylotaxy, 3 nodes, 3 cotys, I have not found any significant ratio m/f either way seen dozens like it.

Peace
